Everyone always says “Adopt don’t Shop!” YA RIGHT… This shelter has a lot wrong with it and it almost seems like they judge you when you come in and decide if you can have a dog or not before even saying hello. I am a professional dog trainer and have been training dogs for over 5 years! Have 25 acres of land, specific dog training areas indoor and outdoor, and multiple dog runs. I have worked with behavioral dogs, basic obedience dogs, advanced obedience, stock dog training and even service dogs! When I went in to look and possibly adopt a dog for my training program, I was rudely greeted at the door. All of the dogs I saw were under weight I didn’t seem to see any that looked a healthy weight. (Which I understand they may be in the process of gaining that great but I feel they should ha

Central Humane Society is a very well run shelter. These people know what they are doing! I think there may be a misunderstanding. They are a NO KILL shelter unlike one of the reviews stated. I have volunteered with different rescues and shelters and I was very impressed with the employees and their procedures. I first met with the dog by myself for 30 minutes in a large room and had access to toys, etc. If that had been a match, my dog would have met the shelter dog. I asked how they introduced the dogs and their description made perfect sense to ensure a good match. I didn't get the dog but I appreciated the kindness displayed by everyone. They answered all my questions and they are obviously very knowledgeable. This is an exceptional shelter! Selma

A humane society that won't take in animals? What's the point then? Sent me to the sheriff's office and then pd and then vet who all said the humane society know they can't do anything. There are two newborn kittens abandoned by Mom that are STARVING and humane society couldn't be bothered. Better hope my mom can save them cuz I'll be livid if they don't cuz y'all wouldn't do anything

It was below 0 and snowing, called human society to let them know I have a baby kitten that has been crying under the car for two days I took it in but it was in my garage- I have a dog and didn’t want to scare it even more. One of the ladies answered my phone call so mean and pretty much told me they can’t do anything about it just to open the garage door and let it out 😟😳 I was baffled. Gave me the number to the sheriff office but like what will they do… what’s the point of an animal shelter if you can’t take in animals… or even to show some kind of sympathy, she was so rude.. felt like I was bothering her and I just wanted to help the baby kitten.. if you don’t like your job find another one please

I feel sorry for animals in their care. We checked a dog out a week and a half ago, couldn't adopt that day because we were there for a couple days for state fair. Following week made the two and half hour trip to go pick her up since she was still listed. Then they have some story that she's in hold for somebody else and then a medical hold for puking last week. They said they would call me on Tuesday. No call, so i called on Wednesday. She said she had to check to see if the other people were going to come pick her up. Comes back on phone and said they don't do adoptions on Wednesdays. 🤨. I always wondered how a humane shelter can have such bad reviews, now i know. When we adopted through here a couple years ago , that dog had diarrhea. I had asked them what was going on with h
