Adopted my new doggy from them over a week ago and I’ve never been happier!! I had a lot of questions and they were very thorough/patient with answering all of them. They gave me tons of informational sheets and resources for anything I may encounter, which was much appreciated!! Everyone was very helpful, the adoption process went smoothly, and my doggy has been doing great!! Thank you Capital Area Humane Society, from me and Goose (fka Captain Gantu) <3
I lost my longtime kitty companion Nina to cancer in September. After she passed away, I had a dream about her sitting in a field of dahlia flowers. Shortly thereafter, I went on the Capital Area Humane Society website and there was a picture of a cat, who was available for adoption, who was named Dahlia and who looked almost exactly like Nina. If you're wondering if you should adopt, just do it - these babies are so magical and special, and the folks here are really nice and do a great job! Dahlia is acclimating really well to her new home. I locked her brother's in the basement for a little while as she explored the house, sniffing and rubbing her cute little face on everything 😍 she has her own bedroom and I think she's happy, and I'm so happy to have her home! 😊
Clean place. Well treated pets. Helpful friendly staff. We adopted our newest furever pup. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking to add a furry friend to their family
I read some reviews before going here saying they felt like adoption was a "competition". I feel very confused by that because my experience here was great! We were not rushed nor felt like we were competing to adopt. Friendly staff that guided us to our first step of what our age range was and what type of pet we wanted. Next station was a lovely lady that helped us with the financials and informing us about the best way to transition our new cat into our household. 10/10 experience overall. We had no questions nor concerns and walked out of there with a baby girl named Jinx (who is now Voodoo Ranger).
Adoptions start at noon. We arrived about 1:45 and this place was busy, busy busy. I went straight for the kitten nursery. I found 2 very beautiful boys Munster and Asiago. And roughly 2 hours later I was leaving with them. Soooo cute and loving. ALL the staff were very helpful and kind. Thank you everyone for a wonderful experience.
