I don't typically leave reviews, but I had to after our experience today. We are beginners with a small fishtank for our 3 year old son. Rick personally helped us get started by providing many options and discussing our needs. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided assistance far beyond expectations. Customer service was top notch. We will definitely be returning for any further purchases

Preuss Pets is the kind of pet store the world needs more of. You can genuinely feel the care the moment you walk in. They care deeply about the animals, about who they sell them to, and about the breeders they work with. Nothing feels rushed or careless. There’s intention behind everything they do. Their selection of fish and live plants is incredible, easily one of the best I’ve seen. The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced aquarist. This is what ethical, responsible pet ownership support should look like. If you care about animals being treated with respect and knowledge, this is the place.

Stopped by Preuss Pets in Old Town Lansing after a local coral swap, and it is easily one of the most impressive pet stores in the state. The show tanks alone are worth the visit—both the freshwater planted displays and the saltwater reef setups are absolutely beautiful and offer fantastic aquascaping inspiration. ​While their aquatic selection is top-tier, the store is massive and also features extensive, well-kept areas for birds and reptiles. ​From a logistics standpoint, having the water station right at the front of the store is incredibly smart and convenient. When you are doing regular water changes to manage phosphate and nitrate levels in a reef setup, being able to easily load heavy jugs of water right by the entrance makes the trip so much smoother. Great place to while away a few solid hours. Took my child to look around here for their birthday. Thank you so much to the staff member near fish and reptiles( long curly brownish blonde hair in a headband, lots of necklaces) who matched his enthusiam and answered his questions then took him to meet the stingray and imparted their knowledge with us. Its all they've been talking about. You didnt have to do all that but you definitely made this an experience to remember for them. Thank you. ❤️

Wow , this is a super cool and fun store that has an incredible variety of pets. I think if it exists they probably have it. Very cool atmosphere and knowledgeable and friendly staff . Allow extra time to wander around and check everything out. So much fun.
