Too many dogs that need a home. I went and feed them all treats today. I wish I could adopt them all.

Arrived at the shelter to look at their dogs for my grandma who just recently lost her old guy. There was a sign on the door at 3:00 pm (they close at 4:30) saying appointments only. We call the number and it rang continually until it connected to the police department. They let me know someone should be there and then called the staff. The staff member was supposed to come meet us, but after waiting for 30 minutes, we finally left. I’m not sure if it’s volunteers who run the shelter, but it seems crazy that the place looks run down and dirty and clearly needs a lot of maintenance but no one is there to do any of that let alone show animals to customers wanting to provide them a home. I understand the 2 star rating now.

I would have made more progress speaking to a brick wall. We found a miniature Australian Shepard and went to ask if anyone came looking for him or if they would be willing to take him so his owners could find him. They asked where we found him, I told them Canton, they told me they could not take him. Now, I could be wrong but, a shelter in Canton, should take dogs found in… Canton?? I dunno it all seems very suspect. I didn’t even speak to a real person I spoke to a fancy doorbell. They said they were out catching a dog. The math isn’t mathing. Why take that dog and not this one? Suspicious. 0/10.

I’m only able to write a review regarding my telephone experience. I found the lady I spoke to to be very helpful as to their process regarding surrendering an animal and the charges. She was professional as well as compassionate over the phone. The whole process was made very clear.

Took a dog in to surrender it. Found on Hwy 17 about two miles from Main Street in Grand Saline. Did my due diligence trying to find its home, checking with multiple businesses, calling multiple places, and talking with Grand Saline PD about what to do with the dog. The lady asked for my id and said they couldn’t take him. I live in a different city. I tried to explained to her where I picked him up at, she was rude and short with me gave me a number to a different humane society. Of course they don’t have room. I have 5 dogs and AM a responsible dog owner unlike unmentionables that dump dogs. Which is likely what happened. Either way if you go to cantontx.gov and look under impoundment fees it shows surrenders from Van, Wills Point, or Grand Saline only. Obviously not, so you’re going to
