We got Max the shorthair first. He'd been adopted and returned multiple times for being too aggressive. He was about to be taken back to the shelter AGAIN, so I took him instead. I was told he couldn't live with other animals. But after I got to know him, I could tell he was lonely and had simply been taken from his mother and siblings too early. He never learned to play correctly, and he was being paired with older cats that can't keep up with him. So I went to the Auburn shelter and asked for a hyper kitten who could keep up with him. Look at him now ❤️ Thank you to the Auburn Valley shelter for finding the perfect playmate for him. Macie was the best possible match.

Came in a couple weeks ago with the intention of adopting a cat/kitten but wasn't sure. They had a lot of kittens to adopt. After getting to know a few we decided to adopt Miss Meadow. Very sweet cat. The actual process of adopting took awhile, slow computers along with someone else adopting at the same time but overall a very good experience.

I was receiving Pets for Life services here for my three kitties. Out of the blue, Jessica Koertz from the program called me up and asked me for my address. When I gave it to her she said it wasn’t in an PFL eligible zip code. I told her I was moving back to my previous eligible address as my lease was ending. Also the place I “moved” out of was my family home that I go to regularly so technically it was still my permanent address. She and her manager Phoebe Leong mandated that I provide a piece of mail to establish “residency”. When I did that, they tightened the rules to require mail that shows I receive services such as utilities. I didn’t pay rent or utilities so I didn’t have those. They said receiving mail at a place does not prove I live there. Does it not? LOL. I guess it applies

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I understand that it’s a volunteer-based organization, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of communication, compassion, or logic in how things are run. My boyfriend and I visited the shelter with the hope of adopting a cat or dog that day. Right away, we were pressured into meeting a dog we weren’t even eligible to adopt due to its breed — and despite our repeated interest in other animals, the staff continued to push this specific, aggressive dog that clearly wasn’t a good fit for us. Eventually, we found a sweet cat we truly connected with. When we asked to place a hold so we could take her home, we were told we couldn’t because she needed to be fixed — and bizarrely, we were also told that no holds were allowed since “cats and dogs get lost

Thank you SO MUCH for getting Anubis back to me! He's the best service dog I ever had and I would be dead without him. He even kept me from falling directly into the path of a moving car during a seizure through his "pull" command when auburn public library refused to let me go in with him to use the bathroom. No matter how many times I explained obedient disobedience to the library clerk and that Anubis was alerting me to a seizure and I needed to lay down, they refused to let me stay, so I ended up collapsing on the ground in the rain and cold, but Anubis got me safely back to the emergency shelter I was staying in. So happy to be moved to my own place now!
