Apolda Kennels

We've been utilizing John's kenneling services for probably over 10 years now. When we have picked up the dogs, they are always well and happy to see us. Also the prices are very competitive and the facility is local to where I live. He has also been happy to do last minute accommodations when i have had to do that. It is not a fancy dog hotel nor are there a bunch of bells and whistles but John is attentive, professional and calm which is a good quality to have when working around dogs. He also offers other services like dog walks during boarding and grooming. When i come to pick up or drop off I see him working the grounds or busy in the kennels. Decided to give this place a try since they have $5 nail Trims on Tuesday. He also does boarding/daycare. He had several dogs outside in Kennels. If I had my dog at a doggie daycare I certainly wouldn't want him caged up all day. As soon as I walked it I could tell it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience. I should have just walked out. My already nervous dog hates his feet touched... To get my dog up on top of the table he grabbed him by the lead that was attached around his neck and pulled him up. Once he got them up on the table he gave him a pat on the side that was more like a slap .As he was trimming his nails he had the lead on a hook so tight on my dog's neck that he was starting to choke his response to that was "well loosen it up a little bit" but it was impossible because h

Used this place based on reviews and it was close to home. Was really excited due to the owner telling me all about his 40 plus years of experience with dogs. Dropped him off for 5 days of boarding. Picked him up in a hurry and didn’t realize it till I got home but my dog was really beat up, bloody, skinny, and had feces on him. He needed immediate care. Extremely disappointed. Definitely not what I expected Never again!

John offers a great service at Apolda Kennels & Grooming. He did a great job on our dog Cricket, and was attentive to my instructions, even though I wasn't quite sure how to describe the grooming I wanted. Cricket looks and smells great. The price was very reasonable. I'd be happy to bring her back again for grooming or boarding.

Left my dog here for a an extended stay and while the operator seemed decent and attentive enough the facility left much to be desired. We were never shown the back area where our dog was kept and after returning home our dog had issues with feeding and seemed stressed though I am unable to directly attribute this to the care she received. We had a haircut for our dog and the haircut was without a doubt the worst haircut my dog had ever had including the times i cut the dogs hair myself during covid. The cut was very spotty with many sections not trimmed properly and the face especially was uneven. I do not see us ever returning to Apolda Kennels.
