Animal Care Centers of NYC - Queens

First time adopting from NYCACC, it was one of the best experiences we have had, they helped match us with our new best friend, Shadow. They offered so much advice and support during and after the adoption. My advice is you shouldn't ever think that shelter pets in were surrendered because of their behavior or that they are bad, crazy, etc. Shadow had good experiences with humans (we have had dogs that did not, iykyk). He is so friendly and smart - he came to us fully house trained after 100 days in the shelter! For whatever reason his humans just couldn't keep him, and it's our good fortune. He is helping us live our best lives.

We got our new kitten from these folks. They are terrific! Treated us very well and allowed us to visit with the kittens before adopting. No pressure, no rush, just informative and very friendly staff. We are absolutely in love with Leonardo, our new kitten. They also followed up with a call to make sure we are all adjusting well, and we have a free visit for his physical. In all, it was a great experience that resulted in an amazing addition to our family!

I cannot thank these people enough! They are angels on earth. The place is very well maintained and clean. We went to surrender a cat stray mama cat that was very sick and they took care of her immediately! The vet specialist (shoutout to Dr. Sarah!) she was so great! We were sad due to having to euthanize our cat as she couldn’t be saved but they gave us our own room and tissues and comforted us. They were there every step of the road and constantly asked if we needed more time. They didn’t rush anything. Also gave us cat prints of our cat with a thoughtful card at no expense to us. If you have to do euthanasia for any reason this is the most humane and kind place to make sure your furry friends go up in peace. I did something yesterday for the first time. I went to a animal rescue adoption place and got myself a rescue dog. I have been thinking about this for a while and I really love to have a dog. I initially thought of getting one from a kennel but realized because of a conversation I had with a lady in a coffee shop that I would want to get a rescue instead. I went to the Animal Care Center in Manhattan but unfortunately only met with one dog "Lemon Bread" and he is super nice and beautiful but he is a breed that sheds a lot which will not work for the job that I do. I then inquired if I can check the other dogs in the app (Yes, they have an app!) and I was told that the newly rescued dog "Ray of Sunshine" that I am interested with is still available in the Queens branch. I adopted Juniper (now Helix) in 2020, the staffs were very responsible and gave me a call to make sure my initial inquiry was a good fit and recommended her to me.
