Winding River Kennels

We got a Weimaraner from Winding Rivers 5 years ago and he also had growth plate issues (Hypertrophic osteodystrophy) as another poster, Mark, mentioned. It is a genetic disease and it is recommended that when puppies come down with this disease the parents aren’t used for breeding any more as the risk is rather high more puppies will be effected. When I informed Winding Rivers of the issues our puppy was having they had very little concern and continued to use the parents for breeding purposes. As Mark mentioned, we too spent $2-3,000 on specialists during his first month with us. So be aware that the initial cost of your puppy from Winding Rivers may be just a fraction of what you’ll end up paying for an unhealthy pup in the first few months of life.

I purchased a weimaraner 5 years ago from winding River, Max was 8 weeks old then. 3 weeks after I picked him up he could not use his back legs because of growth plate issues. I spent at least 2000.00 on medical help for him he did get better after 3 or 4 week.he was a great companion. A few weeks ago he became ill with similar issues. I had to put him down. After about six months to one year of researching local breeders, we recently welcomed our newest addition -- Little boy blue Wiemeraner. Riggs adjusted extremely well to his new surroundings. First off the friendliest people you'll ever meet, and the dogs are fricken awesome, healthy happy extremely well behaved adults and the puppies are adorable, And best of all the was the knowledge shared by the breeder, this man knows his stuff from dietary to health care and aging just simply a nice guy and his family just as much, we had a great visit and left with a new family member.
