West Volusia Humane Society

The director of West Volusia SPCA Humane Society has a very evil heart. She should not be working there. I brought my 15-year-old dog there to have her euthanize because she has cancer. So we get there and they say we can’t be with our dog while they do it. So we ask if we could have a minute with the dog and process that we’re not gonna be able to be there. There was no confrontation there was no attitude. And she decided I don’t like your attitude and gave me the money back and told us to leave. So now to get an appointment I have to wait another day to another place while my dog is suffering. I can’t believe she works there and would do this to a family while we’re all in the waiting room. We just wanted a moment to process that we weren’t gonna be there. I do not recommend this place.

We stop by a few times a year to drop off supplies and money. The best part is spending time with all that cats and kitten. It'd like a Cat Cafe but without the coffee. Please stop over and give supplies for cat or dogs they do a get job of taking care of the those who had a hard life. Next cat we get will be the oldest cat. We want their final days to be with a family that loves them.

This place has changed in the last couple years. It's great for cats as they roam and play. The dogs I feel for as they don't have that opportunity, so they can be safe though. The staff was helpful and informing us who the pets where and there history. You can tell they really love these animals. Glad to hear they are a no kill shelter as well

Don’t not recommend. If you have to put your animal down and expect any decent sympathetic normal human behavior… don’t go here. The director is a cold heartless shell of a person. Went in to put my brother’s dog down, was scheduled and already paid. We were informed that there was construction and he would not be able to be with his dog during the process. Her only response was that he should have read the email, which he took responsibility for. That was a sudden shock and he requested a minute more to be with his dog. The tech allowed it but the director went to the computers and came back saying his money was refunded and that he needed to leave. His dog was 15 and had already stopped eating! She wasn’t expected to make it another day. So instead of doing what’s right for the animal,

0 stars if I could. The lady on the phone was so nasty. We are trying to help 2 dogs that we found and she wouldn’t even let me explain the situation. Cutting me off every 5 seconds hung up on me when I asked for a moment to get their chip numbers had to call back. Just rude attitude the whole time. Maybe don’t work as a receptionist if you don’t know how to talk to people on the phone. Would hate to call here in an emergency and deal with her.
