All I can say is great things about this hospital I in all honesty wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have two elder dogs, and VCA Specialty Hospital has been an absolute blessing. One of my dogs had CHF, and the Cardiology Team gave me precious extra time with my soul animal through an LAD surgery (which isn’t performed in any other hospital) and their incredible ongoing care. They monitored him closely both before and after the surgery, adjusting his heart medications with precision and checking his organ levels weekly or twice a month to make sure he was always within a healthy range. Their attention to detail, compassion, and teamwork were truly extraordinary. Dr. Garretto was not only brilliant and responsive always replying to my questions right away but he was also someone my boy truly

Dr. Otero and his team at VCA West LA are the absolute best. They helped us tremendously as we navigated our beloved cat Bob’s illness. They took time to explain everything, laid out all the treatment options and kept us updated and informed at every step of the way. And, when it finally came time to say goodbye to our cat, they stepped up there, too. We will remember their professionalism, kindness and empathy for a very, very long time.

I’m very grateful to Dr. Gant, Dr. Phipps, and the entire reception/admin team at VCA West LA. Everyone was warm, calm, and clearly knowledgeable, which made a huge difference during a very stressful visit with my elderly dog. The doctors took time to answer my questions and explain the treatment plan and next steps clearly, which gave me real peace of mind- especially translating test results into everyday language. The front desk team was kind and supportive as well. It’s comforting to be in a place where people lead with both expertise and genuine care especially within systems than can otherwise feel clinical and cold. Truman, myself and our little family thank you!

I’ve never left a Google review before but wanted to say Dr. Otero couldn’t have been more kind, patient, or effective with our very vet-anxious dog at her annual exam. I really think he can help retrain her to associate the vet as a positive experience. I came in once before to the ER as well and they were welcoming and amazing. Had negative previous experiences at Modern Animal.

Last spring, I took my 6-month-old kitten in to get neutered, but two days later he was lethargic, refusing to eat and borderline catatonic. I brought him back to the original vet, but they repeatedly downplayed my concerns. My gut told me something was very wrong, and my worst fears were realized when we discovered an abscess near his groin. I immediately rushed him to West LA, where the seriousness of his condition finally became clear. Little Tattie had developed a dangerous post-op infection and was at risk of becoming septic. The team triaged him quickly and calmly, even as I fought back tears. After a short wait, Dr. Hayward met with me privately to further explain Tattie’s condition and outline a plan of action. The team carefully cleaned and stabilized him. Although this took lon
