Upstate Canine Academy - Dog Training Facility

We brought our 8 month old Bernedoodle for a 2 week training. What a wonderful experience! We learned to communicate better with him. Now he knows what we expect and he is eager to please. His self confidence also increased. He is a delight to bring into public and responds well to new situations and people. He is safer and we are all happier. He still has his full personality and is still a puppy. The continued training, specific to our dog and at home needs is very helpful. We are able to work towards goals. I also appreciated the pictures and updates while he stayed at Upstate Canine. I could see he was well cared for and happy.

We just completed training with Zach, with our Cane Corso, Lucca. Zach is a great trainer. He helped us better understand Lucca’s behaviors - how to react to situations, how to redirect, and how to de-escalate situations. The virtual check-in sessions were great as well. It allowed us to review any issues/situations, review provided videos of Lucca and receive great feedback and suggestions for our next in-person visit. This was our second training at Update Canine Academy with Lucca, and I’m sure we will be back for more. Zach, Tom, and the entire UCA crew are top notch.

We brought our nine-month-old working line German Shepherd, Bear, to Upstate Canine Academy for board and train—and we couldn’t be happier with the results! Kyle Gelsomini was exceptional, helping us understand Bear’s needs while balancing them with our lifestyle. He has a genuine love and understanding of dogs which was very apparent in his work with Bear, always emphasizing what would be a fair expectation for Bear. As a working line GSD expected to reach 120 lbs in adulthood, it was crucial that Bear be well-adjusted to life in NYC. Leaving your puppy for a five-week board and train program can be scary, but the team at Upstate Canine made the entire process so reassuring and supportive—for both us and our dog. From the first day to the last, their communication, care, and professionalism were top-notch. We specifically want to shoutout Kyle for he was our dog Benny’s main trainer. He really took the time to understand us as owners, but Benny as the dog he is. Our dog really bonded with Kyle from the moment we dropped him off and still to this day when we make our trips to visit he gets beyond excited as do we, to work with an awesome human who cares deeply for what he does. This place is amazing! From the second we walked in the door everyone was amazing! We met Rebecca when we dropped our Malinois Cairo off for a 3 week board and train and she was great, and then we met Marigrace who trained Cairo and she is phenomenal…I could not say enough wonderful things about her! She truly cares about the process and all the dogs and made us feel so comfortable! We hope to have created a long lasting bond with her here at Upstate Canine Academy! Thank you for everything!!
