Very nice people working here. I am so proud of them to take the time and care for these loving fur babies. I saw Jake on their website and fell in love with him. He had been there quite a while. The staff brought him out and sat with us while we got acquainted. What a gem for needing love. It will take a little while for his trust but it will be well worth it. He is so handsome. He loves running around the yard and in the house. He is very good with the other dogs and cat. Don't be afraid to take on challenges with these fur babies. Regardless of their age and circumstances they all need love and companionship. Please adopt one and give them a forever home. I have supported Unleashed with a few financial gifts and food, treats or toys that my very picky elder cat did not want. So, I walk in there a few times per year. Today, I went on the website to see what kitties they had as I'm considering a companion for said elder cat. I was VERY surprised to see they had NO animals available for adoption and no updates or explanations. I've been following the news about them for some time and did not want to believe what I had been reading but ... Maybe it was all true??? In any case, the donations I was going to take there will now go over to Great Plains ASPCA in Merriam. 🤷

This is the best shelter in Kansas City. Unleashed rescued my sweet Rocket from Texas and I couldn’t be more grateful. I recommend everyone I know to them. Their staff is so friendly and helpful! You can tell they truly care about their animals and do everything in their power to save every animal they can.

Wasn’t going to make a review but here we are a few years later. Made us pay $500 for a dachshund that had a k9 tooth shoved into his nasal cavity causing lots of breathing issues, had rotting teeth, many other problems that we weren’t told about so we ended up dropping lots of money a few weeks later. Let us see the dog after he was just awoken from being neutered and was completely scared and out of it. Cockroaches on the floor in the room to sit in with him and also had no chairs (only a few rooms had seats). Made you feel obligated to donate to them when trying to adopt an animal. Sad to say the dog passed away less than a year later due to so many unknown health complications and had to be put down later from also going paralyzed later on. We found this beautiful girl at the shelter who is now called Lola and we did not hesitate to take her home. It's been 3 months since this and I'm so happy now that she and one of my kids are best friends.💖
