I was on my way for what I thought was an 8:30 drop off when I got a call from them at 8:15 saying that I was supposed to be there at 8. I had 8:30 in my calendar but said it was obviously a miscommunication and I’m on my way and will be there in 10 minutes. They said no, you’ll have to reschedule. Seriously?? It took me over a month to get the appointment. They told me they only allow 2 hours per grooming session and they were fully booked for that day. How on earth do they know that it will only take 2 hours to groom each and every animal that they book?? This seems more like an OVER booking problem to me. I begged and pleaded and told them I’d leave him for the day and they could do whatever they could for him (and hour and a half+ of grooming is better than none at all). Nope, they w

I have been going to Jen, groomer/owner, since she was at Sand Road, about 18 or so years. She has done an amazing job grooming my dogs and has always run on schedule. Since they have moved to Canaan, CT, I have used Krista as a trainer with great results, and Mary as her swim teacher. I can't say enough about the dedication they have shown and attention to detail in all aspects of caring for my dogs. In fact, Krista has gently taught me how to help with my puppy's "naughty" behaviors so I can correct it with the patience I need. I highly recommend their services.

OUTSTANDING! We have been taking our beautiful Royal Standard Poodle, Monniet to Ultimate Dog ever since his first haircut almost 7 years ago. Jen is a master at shaping. We have tried many variations of a poodle haircut and Jen always delivers. In fact to our surprise we just saw his photo front and center on the grooming section of their website. What an honor. We too believe our boy is a cover model. The staff is always very helpful. We definitely appreciate all the long term employees and I am sure Monniet does too. At this point they are his family. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

What a disappointment. Their website wasn’t working to reserve the pool. I called repeatedly over three days and left messages. They never answered their phone and it took two of those three days to return my message. The girl who called me had not actually listened to my voicemail so I had to repeat when I wanted to reserve the pool and she told me to do it online. Good grief! It’s too bad because I’m new to the area and would likely have been a repeat customer but with that as my first impression, I’ll skip this place.

I've been going to Ultimate Dog for the last six months with my pup, Ruthie. She's had excellent puppy basic and CGC training from Krista; nice, no-trauma haircuts and swim lessons with Mary; and nutritional advice from other staff for our too-skinny, food-fussy pup. The whole staff is just NICE as well as helpful and I'm just so pleased to have found this place!
