U. of I. Small Animal Clinic

My little Ferg was transferred to U of I vet clinic after he was suspected to have a liver torsion at 2 of our primary vets and recommended for a liver lobectomy. The doctors at U of I saw him immediately and were very informative on our options. Not only were the doctors patient with all our questions but so sympathetic towards our overwhelming feelings/ fears. Ferg was hospitalized for 2 days but came home with us after he was in the clear. He’s now one week post op and he’s doing amazing. Basically back to himself and now just waiting to be in the clear to do his binkies! (Miffy is also so happy to have her brother back). Thank you for helping my baby boy!

This is a long-overdue review for the RadOnc team! Their care for our dog, we believe, helped add a few happy and healthy years to his life *knocks on wood* Our dog has a heart-base tumor and after receiving quotes for treatments in Chicago to the tune of $12-15k, we decided to take a chance and look for a university teaching hospital. There are certainly risks at a clinic like this, but the staff were knowledgeable, communicative and creative — working with us to make a radiation treatment plan that took into consideration our dog, his age and medical complexities, and our travel/budget considerations (since we would be driving down for each treatment). The radiation/oncology team specifically was a dream to work with (especially Dr. Samuels, Amanda, and all of the other support staff).

My review is specifically for Dr. Kaufman and vet student Amy who treated of my dog Frankie Freckle Toes while she was hospitalized and Dr. Chun who is continuing her treatment currently. We came in on Halloween night and my dog Frankie was very very sick. She was later diagnosed with a severe case of histoplasmosis and her prognosis was very poor- I wasn’t sure she would make it out of there at all. After staying for a total of 9 days (I visited daily and can say with 100% certainty these two ladies cared about my dog-this is a fact) she was discharged without much hope for recovery—-statistically it was not in our favor. BUT It’s been two months now and she’s steadily trending in the right direction!! She has no clinical signs of the infection!!! This is a very long (and expensive)

Our dog was injured while we were away from home (Florida) visiting family. On Chrismas evening she was rapidly getting an abscess on her neck near her wounds. We are so thankful for the dedicated staff that worked that evening into the next morning. Sugar Plum had daily visits for 4 days in a row as follow up care. Every visit was exceptional. We would like to thank the multiple doctors that helped her, the nurses and the front desk staff. This clinic is well oiled machine that if efficient and takes quality care of animals. We knew Sugar was in good hands every time she had to be sedated. Thank you all so very much ❤️

My dog needed an emergency pace maker put in. The staff were amazing! Dr. Lo was very good at explaining the surgery and even gave my other dog a heart rate vest to help monitor his heart for research! Free of charge! Definitely recommend!
