The Barking Dog - Hooksett

This was our first time at this kennel for our 7 month old standard poodle who has much personality but can be.a handful. We were nervous about this being the start of separation anxiety which was ever present in our prior labradoodle. We were extremely happy with the outcome. Any of the staff we met were extremely friendly and very receptive toward our puppy. He seemed happy and well cared for. We chose the half day playtime out of his “suite” with the rest being in his space which included both indoor and outdoor areas which he chose himself. We received a report card at the end which said he adjusted well, ate all of his meals, enjoyed the treats we sent, and the staff loved him.We paid for a bath upon exit and he was clean, brushed, odor free and most of all happy to see us. We love Sophia in grooming! My dog Harper is always so excited to see her and comes back looking AMAZING. She is kind and thorough and truly listens to what we ask every time. At this rate I will never see a different groomer even if I have to drive an hour+ to see her.

My dog has now been going to the barking dog for 3 months. I love having somewhere that gives me such good piece of mind, for both daycare and boarding. Staff all greet her by name and she is so happy every time we arrive. I love that she has the option to swim or get in a convenient bath while she’s at daycare! This is the first place that has successfully been able to trim her nails without needing anxiety meds!!! I also LOVE the convenience of weekend daycare hours, it was a big reason why I picked this spot over others.

After having tried a couple of doggie daycares for our two big 1.5 y/o puppies, nothing will ever come close to how excellent the Barking Dog is. It’s truly a one-stop-shop in that they offer doggy daycare/boarding, grooming, and training. We go to the Barking Dog for all of these things. We have some big unruly puppies that needed a lot of training. With the tremendous help of our trainer, Jocelyn, our dogs have come a long way. We couldn’t be more impressed by how above and beyond Jocelyn goes. Our dogs are incredibly reactive and can pull us in every direction. Jocelyn recognizes the anxiousness of morning time drop off for daycare, and has gone as far as meeting us in the parking lot several times for drop off so she can help us navigate that. I started training at The Barking Dog right after Thanksgiving and I cannot sing the praises of our trainer Emily enough. She is very patient and incredibly informative. Walter loves his sessions and with the homework packets, I feel fully supported when we train at home. Everyone we have encountered are friendly and welcoming and the prices for training are more than reasonable. If you are looking for a dog trainer, I recommend the Barking Dog 100%.
