After a frightening emergency experience elsewhere, we brought our 13-year-old dachshund, Fred, to ANC and Dr. Amanda Jurkoshek — and the difference was night and day. From the moment we walked in, the staff and facility felt calm, welcoming, and compassionate. Every person we encountered treated us — and Fred — with genuine empathy. When you’re facing a possible high-grade IVDD diagnosis, that emotional steadiness matters more than people realize. Dr. Jurkoshek was exceptional. She conducted a thorough neurological evaluation and spent ample time with us, never making us feel rushed. She listened carefully to our concerns, answered every question thoughtfully, and provided clear, comprehensive explanations about treatment options and prognosis. Her guidance felt measured, informed, and

I truly can’t recommend and thank every Staff member and Doctors at ANU enough. An injury to our guy Reilly (5 years old) took us to Mizzou for an MRI. We ended up being referred to ANU for a disc compressing his spinal cord where he was scheduled for surgery. When we got there and went to a room you truly feel a sense of calm. The Doctor answered every question and explained everything in a way that didn’t feel overwhelming. When we got the called he did well in surgery I was immediately in tears that this surgeon and staff gave my handsome guy relief from pain and the chance at full recovery. When I picked him up the next day the improvement minus some sassy attitude was immediate. We are now 4 weeks out and he is almost fully back to his sweet boy self. I could go on and on but at the e

Words alone can't begin to express how grateful I am to Dr. Wininger and his staff. Rufus, my 6-year old longhaired dachshund lost the use of his back legs. My vet immediately called the Animal Neurology Center and the very next day he went into surgery. I am so pleased to announce that just two weeks later, my Rufus is walking again. It's nothing less than a miracle. Dr. Wininger's expertise in the field of neurology and neurosurgery is a shining example of what a great, passionate doctor can do to improve the lives of SO many pets. I would highly recommend The Animal Neurology Center. How lucky I am to have this incredible top notch Center so close to my home. Here is a picture of my (3) Dachshunds. Rufus, Rusty his brother and Andrew. All rescues and all have my heart in a HUGE

Thank you Dr. Wininger! Pickle, our 4 year old French Bulldog, had a follow up visit for his second spinal surgery today. He’s doing great! He was diagnosed with IVDD this past summer. This recovery was much easier than the first surgery. Pickle resumed walking a day later. We hope we never see you again, but we are grateful to know we have you and your beautiful staff. Our dog had a very serious spinal cord surgery and we were unsure if she’d ever walk again, we had so many question and we were so concerned but Dr. Wininger walked us through everything, kept us calm and performed an amazing surgery. After surgery Roxie had to stay a couple days with them and the staff took such good care of her and made us feel so special in a scary situation. When Roxie returned home, the staff would call and check in on us every day. I’m happy to say Roxie is in the road to recovery. I can not recommend this place enough! They are amazing in every aspect
