My little hedgehog son sees Dr. Burgess and we could not be more satisfied with the service and information he provides at each visit. He is professional, informative, attentive to details, friendly, yet realistic. I appreciate that he takes the time to really assess a patient - he doesn’t make you feel like a number. He and his staff make you and your animal family member feel seen and valued.

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic! I live in Ridgefield but drive to this location because I truly believe they are the best small animal vet in the area. I originally found them when I was looking for a vet for my sick Guinea pig, who was wheezing. The staff at the clinic was able to get me a drop-off appointment and Dr. Burgess later called me and explained what was wrong with her. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided me with a great deal of information about my Guinea pig, including her diet. That’s actually when I learned that the veggies that I was feeding my pigs were not appropriate for them as they can cause bloat. The Incredible Dr. Ramsell and her team have given us the best exotic pet service and outcomes that I have experienced. My family is very satisfied with the service here. So far, 2 leopard gecko problems and the first one is back to thriving after a respiratory infection. The second is a bit of a guarded prognosis yet, but I can see that Dr. Ramsell is very interested in the case and is willing to go the extra mile on this mystery. This is in stark contrast to our experience at a famous ER in Portland last week. With exotics you basically need a specialist or that rare vet who is willing to take on the challenge for the sake of saving a life, and I feel like both of those converge here.

Dr. Burgess saved my bunny Walden's life. When I called, I was told to come in immediately. I'm so thankful that SW Animal Hospital takes emergencies seriously, and he had surgery right away. Without immediate surgery, Walden would have died from his blockage. He had a rough recovery, couldn't tolerate his antibiotics, and didn't eat on his own for 3 weeks. Dr. Burgess saw him twice more, adjusted his medicines and put him on an appetite stimulant to help get him eating again. The staff is wonderful and caring, and Dr. Burgess is a very rabbit savvy, skilled surgeon. Walden is healthy and happy again.

Southwest Animal Hospital it one of the best vets I have ever had the pleasure of working with. When my baby boy, Edgar, got sick they were there for me. Dr. Burgess was extremely helpful with doing everything he could for Edgar. The team was so kind and thoughtful as well. Edgar wasn’t doing well and we decided to put him down. Dr. Burgess was very honest and I appreciate that. I couldn’t go in to see Edgar off but I knew that he wouldn’t be alone because the team was incredibly caring and I knew they would be there for him. If I ever get another exotic animal I will gladly take them here because I trust this team so much.
