Stone County Humane Society

Stone County Humane Society is by far the cleanest shelter I've ever been in. The animals are taken care of and loved very much. In October of 2024 I adopted the sweetest kitten from this shelter named Tommy. went three times to visit before I knew he was the one. The reason was because all the cat's are very sweet. When you enter the Cat Cottage all the cats come over and want to be loved. Tommy kissed me and I knew he was the one. I'm very much in love with my sweet boy Tommy. If you are looking for a kitty or dog I highly recommend this shelter. All the staff are friendly and they all care. My mom & I plan on going back to visit. I'm thinking about adding a female kitten to my happy family soon. This is the shelter I'll definitely be adopting from again.

The staff truly care deeply about the animals in their care and work hard to support a community that often lacks the resources or willingness to help itself. Many of the negative reviews appear to come from frustrated or irresponsible pet owners. Stone County Humane Society is a clean, welcoming facility and remains a bright spot in a town that greatly benefits from their dedication and compassion.

I went in Friday last week to surrender my dog that I could not longer take care of and the lady at the front desk was extremely rude to me. So after her telling me no they don't have room for him; I went out to my car and was trying to find somewhere else and she followed me out and told me I needed to leave. She was very rude and entitled.

We adopted our dog from here in April! They were very easy to communicate with & set up a time to visit the dog we wanted! All the staff was very nice & the shelter itself was very nice!
