St. Charles County Pet Adoption Center

I REALLY was hopeful I could give this place 5 stars. I was hoping to get a dog but they told me the puppies I wanted were not cat friendly. I asked what big breed dog they have that is and they only had 1 out of at least 7 that was said to be cat friendly. When I called to set up a meeting with the cat friendly dog I was told that dog is actually not cat friendly according to the previous owner. I appreciate them wanting to find the right match for the dogs and caring about their safety but am really disappointed that they believe all of their big dogs old or young are not cat friendly. I have had big breeds of dogs my entire life and cats. All puppies were able to be trained that the cats were family just like babies. Awful experience! One of the questions on the application is asking if we rent or own our home. We own our home and just bought it back in June. They emailed back saying they looked up our address and we are not listed as owners. They then say they need the landlords number to contact to make sure its OK for us to have a pet. There is NO landlord! Im not sure what information they looked up. And to be called a liar at that?! Most of those animals there have been there for 6+ months and now I see why. Completely unprofessional. We took our business elsewhere and ended up having the best experience finding our new family member! Blessing in disguise I guess! The place is also very dirty feeling.

Looking through these reviews, a lot of the complaints stem from the owners own issues. I’ve adopted from this facility several times and each time I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I appreciated the time the workers spent with me in order to get the perfect pet for my home.

You cant have any interaction with any of the kittens or cats unless you fill out an adoption application besides looking at them through the kennel door. We just wanted to hold and meet some of the cats to see if they would be a good fit. The place smelled, over flowing "litter boxes" in some kennels. Definitely are not taking the time to socialize them either.

Terrible experience at this facility. I called the facility to make sure that they could handle 6, 3 week old kittens that I had found. I had already been bottlefeeding them. I was told to bring them in. When I arrived, they pretty much told me the kittens would die if I left them there. It was the most heartbreaking experience. They were rude and loud and made me feel like a fool for even trying to drop them off. I will never ever return to this facility and I tell everyone I know about the way I was treated. 😡 Those poor animals at that facility.
