Goated animal shelter. non kill shelter, clean, animals are well taken care of. i adopted my dog from here and she is so sweet. they take the dogs out on walks every day and have yards where the dogs can socialize. so many kittens!! They even have cat rooms. Definitely the best animal shelter ive ever been to, considering that ive searched and went to multiple shelters looking for a dog. All the dogs and puppies there are so sweet and adorable. When you adopt a dog, they also give you free stuff which i thought was pretty cool. They give you a collar and a blanket and a harness, and coupons for their pet store connected to the shelter!!! That also included a free toy and lots of treats. LOVE this place!! If you want to adopt a pet, SPCALA southbay and longbeach are great!! picture below is

I found a young kitten on the street by my apartment building. Unfortunately, I could not keep her. Apparently, she had gone into heat and was pregnant. I gave her food and water for a few days then brought her to the shelter. I was surprised when I was told they would not accept her because she was to old. I don't think she was more than 4 or 5 months old. Because she was pregnant they took her to abort her kittens, spay her and put her back on the street. UNBELIEVABLE! I was really upset because suddenly the SPCA LA is not allowing potential adoptions for very many cats anymore only young kittens. I have always brought food, towels, blankets & sheets to line the cages. I had no choice but to leave her but was upset. I feel like this is a callous & cold practice. The one shining light was

Very friendly and understanding. I adopted a kitten back in March, but ended up returning it because I felt I’m not up for the responsibility. Recently I wanted to adopt a kitten again, so I contacted the manager and she was a little hesitant at first because she didn’t want me to to end up returning another kitten. She let me know how stressful it is for a kitten to move into a home, and then move back to the shelter, and then once again get adopted. After I had shown the manager that I understand the responsibility of having a kitten, she was very very very understanding and approved the adoption. They were very friendly when I came in again and held no grudges. Such a reliable and friendly place to adopt a kitten/cat.
