I had a good experience at this location. After losing my 21 year old cat in December, I visited a few LA shelters hoping to find the "right" cat. I had no set specifications as to color, gender or age, I just figured that I'd know when I found the right match. Well, I ended up finding and adopting a cat from the South LA shelter. She had some medical issue and due to the stress of being surrendered, was over-grooming herself to the point where she was missing patches of fur. This shelter did a good job getting her antibiotics, flea and skin allergy meds. The staff were friendly and professional. They fully disclosed what medical history they knew and were very transparent with me. I've now had her for 4 weeks and she has settled in beautifully. I still can't get over why anyone would surr

I recently got the dog of my dreams at this shelter at their adoption event. They are very busy and over capacity. But my little pup clearly was taken care of humanly in the kennel there. Everyone here was incredibly kind through initial meeting of the dog, paying for the doggie, and picking up my dog. They even gave me a whole goodie bag starter pack with a blanket, stuffed animal, food and treat options, petco coupon, as well as a voucher for a free pet check up. The aspca had to nueter my 4 year old Pomeranian before I could take him home. They took great care of him in surgery. When I got him, the ASPCA guy took a picture of me and my new angel bear. Couldn’t be happier. Adopt don’t shop!!!

Extremely nice and helpful people working here. Came in to pay my dog's licensing fee and get the info on a low cost rabies shot my dog needs in April. If it wasn't for all the sad dogs waiting to be adopted and crying in the background, I'd say it was a nice and easy visit. Wish I was rich. I'd adopt them all.

Went here to adopt a dog. Employees are not friendly. I would hate to be an animal here at this shelter. Employees never once smiled or appeared "welcoming" to any customer there. These employees should go get jobs that they like. The impression we got was that they're bothered by any questions or inquiries about any animal they're housing. We inquired about a certain dog, and when an employee brought the dog to us, the dog did not look like the pictures on their website and the dog was roughly twice the size as the dog in the pictures. The dog also had a different face than the dog in the pictures. We told them this isn't the right dog, & they insisted it was. They said the dog arrived a week earlier, so that meant there was no time-lapse where the dog could've changed its looks (

An employee at this shelter is assessing animals in 15 minutes. He just goes and stands in front of kennels in an intimidating stance, if a dog shows fear or aggression, then the dog is labeled as a problem and is euthanized quickly. This quick way of assessing dogs "for being dogs" is inhumane. I demand the shelter to end this inhumane practice. This is not fair to the animals, they are not being assessed correctly. For the people here in the comments saying people should not be adopting animals from this shelter, it's not the animals' fault. Please fight for the poor animals left in the hands of a so called shelter. Shelters should be protecting animals not killing them !!
