Smitty's Kennels Rescue Dogs

Smitty has always taken such good care of our Great Dane, Sven Diesel. We have tried other boarding facilities in the past. We drop off a happy go lucky dog and always returned back with him underweight and stressed out from other boarding places. A friend who has a Great Dane recommended Smitty as they have used them as well. We have boarded with Smitty now multiple times over the years and travel approx. 40 miles to get there. We always dropped off a happy healthy dog and he was returned in the same way as if we never left. Extremely grateful to have come across this boarding facility. We wouldn't use anyone else.

We have been using Smitty’s Kennel for over 20 years. we’ve boarded our high maintenance dogs (1 who was an escape artist) and now (1 who needs daily meds) without hesitation knowing they would be in safe hands. Smitty ensures that all the animals boarded are up to date on shots and free from fleas which further puts our minds at ease. The kennel is clean and spacious. My dogs have always come home happy, healthy and squeaky clean! We will continue to use Smitty’s and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to board their pet with peace of mind.

I left my dog here in April 2021. I was just reflecting with a coworker who is trying to find a boarding place for her dog and I strongly advised her NOT to board here. I remembered that I was so frazzled about the whole experience I forgot to leave a review. Upon bringing my dog in, (male golden retriever) I was met with a man at the front desk who I think was the owner. My dog is a little anxious but not mean, and to make sure he wasn’t aggressive he started throwing his hands in the face of a visibly scared dog. Then to get his weight, instead of trying to be patient with a frightened dog he dragged him by the leash over to the scale instead of asking me for assistance or trying to use a treat or ANY other reinforcement. My husband and I have been happily using Smitty's Kennels for over 7 years. We live 30 miles away and wouldn't consider taking our 2 dogs to any closer place. The staff is very knowledgeable about dogs which makes us feel VERY at ease whenever we go on vacation. We have left them for just a quick weekend as well as trips out of the country. One of our dogs is fearful and the ONLY 4 people in the world she allows to touch her are Sandy, Smitty, my husband and me. The kennel is clean and comfortable in warm or cold weather. I have never been dissatisfied with my dogs' grooming. At the drop off, my dogs leave me without shaking or pulling and when I pick them up - while very happy to see me, they also are not nervous, disheveled or hoarse from barking. Just picked up our dog from Smitty’s and as usual he’s clean and happy! We’ve been using Smitty’s for 20 years and have always had a great experience. Our current dog requires daily meds and his own food, no problem! Smitty checks to make sure his vaccinations are up to date and that he’s flea free before boarding. Highly recommended!!
