I volunteer at 16 Hands and I absolutely love going out and helping the horses. Linda is amazing And she will do and help anyone and loves taking care of the horses. We need more volunteers. There are a lot of different options. You do not have to know how to be around horses they will teach you.

Sixteen Hands Horse Sanctuary is a haven for horses in need! My boyfriend and I volunteer here multiple times a month, and we absolutely love every second of it. This place truly leads with love. Every horse is treated with the utmost care, respect, and compassion. The animals here are incredibly well taken care of, living out their days in peace, surrounded by a team that puts their well-being above everything else. These beautiful horses deserve nothing less than this sanctuary of love, respect, and peace, and Sixteen Hands delivers that and more. A massive shoutout to Linda, the barn manager. She is a superhero! Her dedication is unmatched; she works endless hours because her heart is 100% in it for the horses. Watching her pour so much love and effort into every detail is absolutely in

I found Sixteen Hands Horse Rescue in the middle of some big changes in my life. I went out for a visit to the farm and marveled at how clean and organized everything was, how well the horses were taken care of and how friendly and passionate the rescue owner and the volunteers were about the whole organization. I was so impressed, there was nothing they could do to stop me from becoming a volunteer myself, joining a phenomenal group of people, and helping an incredible mission to rescue, rehab and rehome these majestic animals. This animal rescue truly believes in great care, compassion, and helping each one for all their individual needs and giving them the best life possible. Check it out, go for a visit, consider sponsoring a horse, and maybe you’ll want to join a fabulous team of peop

2026 UPDATE: I can still wholeheartedly give SHHS a five star review. For over 18 years, this Sanctuary has provided a loving, well kept safe haven for horses and donkeys to live out their days in peace and safety. * * ♡ I have been a volunteer here for over a year and greatly appreciate the level of care given to the horses, ponies and donkeys. Many of the horses that live at Sixteen Hands have experienced some type of abuse or neglect. Here they are offered a safe place to live and given the best food and care that can be afforded. As volunteers, we are taught Parelli-style horsemanship which allows horses and humans to interact safely and humanely. Robin has devoted many years to the rescue of animals. I hope funds will continue to flow her way allowing these animals, and many oth

As a volunteer at Sixteen Hands, I can attest first hand to amazing love and care these horses with special needs receive! Please come visit and meet these majestic horses (plus two adorable donkeys)! You will fall in love with them and their peaceful and loving home. Volunteer or donate to their care if you possibly can! The horses do more for me than I could ever do for them!
