Sioux Falls Area Humane Society

I love our little Ruby (Goose was his adoption name), and I’m more than happy to take care of a cat with URI to make him healthy and happy again! The vets were so nice and friendly and the front desk showed their love for helping people adopt! The back was questionable though… What was a cat with URI doing with the rest of the healthy cats when they have a room specifically for sick cats! URI is common and very contagious, has to wear protective gear and keep everything clean to make sure no other cats get infected for the next month or later! Yes, other babies were in the healthy cats room too, so can easily spread more! They even let me be in the hangout room for 30 minutes with him… hiding and touching everything! Didn’t know he was sick until the front desk told me! I took him anyways

We first adopted our kitties at the humane society 12 years ago and recently adopted a wonderful dog there as well! I know that they always have the best interest of the animal in mind and are very diligent about making sure the animals are going with a good match. Very kind staff, you can tell they care so much about each animal as an individual. They are so incredibly busy, but the staff is fast and efficient. I'll always adopt from them, and I am so appreciative of their service!

I adopted a single female guinea pig from the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society a few weeks ago and it was a smooth and pleasant experience. We filled out the adoption form before we arrived and this expedited the process. The staff kept thorough notes on Rocket, the piggy I chose to take home, and they answered my questions about her history to the best of their ability. Everything they told me has helped me to settle her in to her new routine in my home with as little stress on her as possible. They also followed up via email a few weeks later to check on her progress, which I appreciate. I also took her to see my regular vet a week after bringing her home, where she was awarded a clean bill of health. We had a great experience adopting our new dog. Staff was great, they helped us with introduce our dog to our new dog safely and make sure they were a good fit. We really appreciated that. It’s been over a week and we couldn’t be happier about our new addition to our family.

We have adopted 2 animals from them a dog back in February and that went well, but our recent adoption has been extremely difficult. We adopted a 3 month old kitten back in September. At the time they were behind on spays and said if we prepaid for the spay for her they would give us a call mid-later November to schedule her spay. So we paid her full adoption fee and never heard from them. We have left over a dozen voicemails and sent an email and have never heard back. This has been going on since early December. We did get ahold of someone once and while they were pleasant on the phone, they promised us someone would call us that Sunday when the person who scheduled was available and since that was almost 3 weeks ago and several voicemails later, I dont think that's going to happen. She
