Sioux Falls Animal Control

I don't really know if your guys's agency really does anything when someone reports something that isn't necessarily a really big deal. I feel like you guys just come out look at the scene and then just drive away like you're some sort of I don't even know how to explain it. Like literally you just are there and then you're not. You don't do any investigative work. I've reported countless times barking dogs in many neighborhoods and it just seems like you guys just again drive by and you don't actually try. You'll reach back out to me at times and say we had someone go out and they didn't hear anything. That still doesn't mean that something wasn't happening before. I don't know what the deal is but I still continue to try to have these guys try to enforce rules. I'm just really unimpresse

Sioux Falls Animal Control is infinitely more effective now that the previous manager finally retired, but they are still almost entirely ineffective and quite often will not even respond to calls. It's like if they blatantly refused to care, but now they pretend to try on occasion.

I called for a bat this morning. And instead of getting it help they took it and killed it. I thought bats were endangered. Makes me sick.

These guys have been called out twice for an aggressive dog that runs around off leash because the owners are either a) to lazy to put it on a leash or b) think that they own the whole place when they don’t. My dog has been attacked 3 times while on his leash in my yard by this dog and they were issued a fine. Now even though the videos I have clearly show small children grabbing this dog from OFF their property they won’t do anything about it because it’s “on its property” and I’ve seen MULTIPLE people go over there because their dog was off leash and attacked their dogs. I’ve been at my house for 2 months. I’ll deal with that dog myself if I have to since these guys don’t want to do anything. We called about a hurt kitten stuck in a storm drain. Was told that if it wasn't in imminent danger there wasn't anything they could do for it.
