I have been a long time client of Sheepshead Bay veterinary group for over 25 years; the medical staff and care team are courteous, supportive and well organized. While it is true that my cat had never been seen by this practice before, that does not change the situation I walked in with: my pet had just died and I was looking for help and guidance. When you work in a veterinary office, compassion toward grieving pet owners should be the bare minimum. If the veterinarian truly could not see us due to a full schedule, a compassionate response from the front desk could have been something as simple as, “I’m so sorry for your loss, but unfortunately the vet is fully booked and cannot see you right now.” Instead, I was told to leave my cat at the front desk and walk away.
