Shawnee Animal Shelter

Had a great experience adopting through the animal shelter. Thank you for the work you do for these animals and our community! Riff Raff (formerly Teeny) is the best good boy and is enjoying his new home and family.

I have known Jesse for 25 years and he is one of the most caring people when it comes to helping animals and their owners. He recently brought me 2 big bags of dog food for my babies I can't say everyone at the shelter is as nice but a couple of them are. It's definitely better than it used to be years ago

Honestly dont even deserve a 1 star. Called about some puppies I found a couple days ago, finally called the animal shelter and they straight up said "we dont do puppies" that they cant even help. How are you gonna be an animal shelter and not do your damn job. Trying to get these babies a safe place and the one local resource doesn't even care to help them. Do not call these people, they are rude when on the phone and dont do their job. They said "we'll send someone out" It's been over an hour and they still havent showed.

Terrible they kicked my dog and told me to put him down be he was to aggressive but he is a husky breed so he's energetic. They didn't have to kick me

An animal shelter that refuses to take animals!!! Wow! What are my taxes paying for? My property is in town, and I have a stray kitten living under a shed. Female too. I called and they told me, “we don’t take animals at the front door.” I then inquired as to how they do take animals and no answer was given. Am I supposed to let this cat roam all over the neighborhood, have kittens and be the entire neighborhoods problem? It’s not my responsibility to take the financial burden, time and stress off of an irresponsible pet owner nor is it my problem to figure out the solution. Why does Shawnee even have an animal shelter? They are completely worthless! Oh, and did I mention their hours are 12-4 Mon thru Friday only, closed weekends and they hate answering the phone.
