Shaggy to Chic Boutique Grimes

I took my miniture bernedoodle to Shaggy To Chic Boutique in Grimes Iowa. Everyone that I came into contact with was so nice. My bernedoodle was kind of anxious when we got there. They said don't worry about it. They said he pretty much settled down after I left. When I picked him up he was so handsome. They did such an excellent job with him. I rescheduled for 8 weeks. This was our first visit and it was a fantastic experience! The ladies were so nice and helpful. They not only did a great job with my puppy’s cut, she came out very happy! I could tell immediately it was a great experience for her too!

I took my dog, Lana, to Shaggy to Chic Boutique in Grimes for grooming, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. After the appointment, we discovered multiple raw, scabbed wounds behind both of her ears that later became infected and required veterinary treatment. No one at the salon mentioned any irritation, mat removal, or injury at pickup. When I reached out immediately after, I was met with defensiveness and blame instead of concern or accountability. The owner later admitted that the groomer failed to mention the mat removal, calling it a “performance issue,” yet still denied any fault for Lana’s condition. I’ve got Golden Retrievers that get tangly and matted pretty easily. They always take great care of my boys and tolerate my one that has pretty bad anxiety. They always look and smell so nice at pickup!

We are very pleased with our groomer, Dani. Our Wheaton Terrier is a challenge - he hates having his legs and feet touched. Even though he is medicated prior to the grooming appt., he is still a stinker. Dani is patient and has used strategies to help him trust her and better cooperate. Dani has groomed him three times since we left our previous groomer. He has never looked better! Highly recommend Shabby to Chic!
