I went to their website and saw an add for a kitten that turned out to be at the pet store less than a mile from my house. I ran over there to check “Tim” out and it was love at first sight. We adopted him that afternoon and made an appointment for his 3rd vaccine back at the shelter where he came from. When we went for his shot, everyone was really nice gave as much info as they could. They both even remembered the cat. You know you have a good staff when they smile and are excited to hear the cat will be in a loving forever home. I know they aren’t as big as others but they do the Lord works. He has a big sister now and they do fine together. It’s been a few weeks and they are staring to figure out how to play with each other. Thank you 2nd chance!

I adopted my dog, Cassy, from Second Chance back in August 2016. She had been hit by a car and her previous owners didn't get her the care she needed, so she hopped around on bad back legs. When Cassy was left at Second Chance, she was pregnant with 7 puppies. Second Chance took great care of Cassy until I eventually found and adopted her. She gave me 9 years full of love and devotion. I just lost her yesterday. I want to thank the folks at Second Chance for doing what they do: caring for special animals and uniting lifelong friends.

I am so grateful for Second Chance for Homeless Pets. We adopted our dog from them 17 years ago, and he went on to live a long, healthy life filled with happiness and love. Their mission means so much to me—giving animals a chance when animal control shelters can no longer keep them. My dog, Nixon, was one of those animals. SCHP rescued him from an animal control shelter, and I still remember the day we visited their facility, met him, played with him, and knew he was ours. I will forever be grateful for the life we were able to share with him because of them.

I love this place! They are a small overflow no-kill shelter which means they help other shelters in the area minimize overcrowding. It is astounding what they accomplish with a staff of only 3 people and a handful of volunteers. I started volunteering here about 6 months ago and they are very flexible with their shifts. If you are thinking about helping with pets, this is a great place to get involved. You can spend time with the animals but also help with a million other operation things that always need to be done. Volunteering behind the scenes I see how much they care and the work required just to operate a small rescue like this. Daily cleaning of all the animal spaces. Daily cleaning of everything else. Daily feeding and scooping poop and changing litter and washing bowls and sanit

I am shocked that I didn't rate this awesome shelter before this. We adopted our dog, Sassy, 2.5 years ago from them. Highly recommend!! They are so very dedicated to all of their animals. When we were looking for a dog, they were the most knowledgeable about each dog that was in their care. I really appreciated that when we did adopt a dog from them, that they took the time to talk to me about what to expect with my particular new dog. They even gave us a free bag of dog food to help with the transition to whatever brand of dog food we had at home.
