We have been bringing our dog here for about 5 years now and Dr. Taksir is a very condescending and dismissive vet. He tends not to listen to your concerns, speaks over you, and often makes presumptions about the way you care for your pets. In almost all cases, I felt like it was a cash grab situation even for a normal check up for an adult dog that has had all their puppy shots. If you're not careful and dont push back on his recommendations, you can easily leave with an 800 dollar vet bill for a normal check up. Most recently, my wife called to see if they could cull one of our sick roosters that had been struggling and was not recovering. I was away from home, and she was unable to do it on her own. So rude!!! My friend called about putting down her rooster, as he had been unwell for several days. Instead of a simple “no” they replied “Occasionally…on a dinner plate!” SO insensitive and unprofessional!! You should provide comfort. Why would you think that’s a normal thing to say?! SHAME ON YOU!! She and her husband had to deal with putting down their pet chicken on their own 😢

I was very appreciative that Dr. Taksir was available on Sunday of a holiday weekend to first guide me by phone, then create an appointment within a few hours to see my cat. He was very upfront about costs and options I could pursue and allowed me time to think about it before making decisions. He and staff were kind and he did his best to assess my cat's issue (my cat is not cooperative). The office is a bit outdated but that was insignificant to the speed in which I was given an appointment and service (the other Albany Animal Hospitals open on Sunday had 10 hour waiting periods). I would recommend Dr. Taksir!

I went to another vet in the area for my cat a few weeks ago (ears bloody and full of wax). They wrongly diagnosed him, made me come back the next day because they couldn't control him, and they completely drained my wallet. I went to this vet instead as the other vet did not treat my cat properly and his ears got worse. I had an amazing experience and definitely will not go back to the other vet. This vet was cheaper, correctly diagnosed and medicated my cat, cleaned and shaved his ears, and even cut his nails on the house. Not to mention, the vet was so funny and extremely friendly. I couldn't be happier and will definitely go to him whenever I need a vet for my cats. Thank you Doc!!

We brought our kitty Emily in for a state mandated rabies shot - (yes, she is an indoor cat.) It was our first visit here, and we couldn't have been more impressed. We were warmly greeted by the lovely receptionist, then met Dr. Taksin. He was kind, friendly, very knowledgeable and considerate. He spent a lot of time with us advising the best way to care for our old girl. He is conservative, gentle, old school and concerned about the health of animals. His relaxed demeanor and dry sense of humor was a pleasure to experience. We will recommend him to all of our pets owners, and we will be back.
