Rushville Animal Shelter

If I could leave a 0 I would. Took my dog here as a last resort, I was in a very tough spot and it was the hardest decision I’ve ever made, I called to check on him and was told he was showing signs of aggression for everything including towards children which was very confusing considering he was amazing with my 1year old and 4 year old, who put headbands on him, cuddled with him and all, never showed signs of aggression towards any animals or people when I dropped him off but ultimately they decided euthanasia was the best option. Had I known I sent him to basically be killed I would’ve never ever took him here.

We adopted Katsuki, formally known as Dolly, from the Rushville Animal Shelter (yesterday, 11-6). I was told she had some constipation issues, and that they were giving pumpkin puree to help. They told me she was a year old. Yesterday evening my sister came over to meet our new addition. She noticed that Katsuki's butt did not look quite right. Today I took her to Heartland in Knightstown where she had surgery for rectal prolapse. As well as needing surgery, she also needed treatment for a bacterial ear infection, fleas & they gave us a dewormer (just incase). The vet estimated her age at 4 months, not 1 year. This animal shelter was so clean and nice!! The adoption process was so easy and everyone there was so helpful and kind. The animals were all very healthy and you could tell they are well taken care of. I adopted a kitten from here today and I couldn’t be happier! This shelter is so great and so are the people—I would recommend it to anyone. (attached is a pic of my new little friend) :)

Rushville Animal Shelter has wonderful staff! The ladies that I met and worked with on our Nelly's adoption were wonderful! Nelly is such a sweet girl and we are loving the fact that we added her to our family and lives!!

This is easily the best shelter or humane society within 50 miles—and it's not even close. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very down-to-earth. The facility is gorgeous, clean, and kept both dogs & cats well fed & cared for. This is the first facility we've been to in which everything was in order. We adopted a sweetheart, and a young man provided us with a surprise gift bag as a "welcome gift". We encourage you to choose Rushville if you're looking for a new pet!
