Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga

While no one is happy to be bringing their horse to a hospital, the folks at R&R make the experience the best it can be. A smiling face is always ready to assist you and they were exceptionally professional when my emotions had me trying to communicate through tears. The doctors are incredible before, during and after the appointments keeping me updated several times a day

I have nothing but good things to say about Rood and Riddle. The vet (Dr. Messak) who came to the stable where I keep my horse was very knowledgeable, as one would expect from Rood and Riddle. My horse is an older gentleman, and she listened when I told her he did not handle sedation well, and gave him just the right amount. She did an excellent job on the procedures he needed (teeth float, etc) and she prescribed medication for the arthritis in his hind legs. She was very patient and answered all my nutrition questions for an older horse. The staff is also VERY friendly and arranged a quick appointment for him, and the staff member who handles the follow up prescriptions was extremely efficient and went above and be

The vets and assistants are all amazing here. They are friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell they really care about the horses. I wish they treated humans because I would switch myself. The only thing I really dislike is the service agreement where they require a credit card on file and make you pay a deposit for a simple on-farm service call. We've been clients for over 5 years and have never paid a bill late and then they implemented this new policy. The attitude of people enforcing the policy is way over the top. I accidentally typed a credit card number wrong so the deposit was declined and the interaction was very pushy and adversarial like I was some type of deadbeat on the phone with a debt collector. My horse has KS and went to R&R for a consultation to see what would be the best plan of action. When arrived they did a flex test on both right and left hind 1st thing with it being found that he was sound. Further test and was recommended that injections for the KS and SI would be the course of plan, that a Rehab plan to follow up. After the amount of weeks of Rehab he developed a RH lameness than he never had before. Did a full lameness eval with full block out and ultrasounds inside and out at a clinic closer to me with no answers as to why..also on inflammation and pain meds. My concern is something went wrong during injections and now I have a unsound horse! Hopefully with time whatever happened during the procedure will heal and he can be sound? Dr O'Neil and her crew, along with the entire staff are fantastic. Great equine hospital, safe, large space for unloading and. easy access for longer horse trailers and truck combos. Everybody there is helpful and attentive to both horse and owner.
