Rescue Dog & End of Life Sanctuary

We recently adopted Sam here and have nothing but good things to say. I have a young child and a small dog and was nervous about finding the right match. They told us Sam would be a great fit, and they were totally right. He is the most laid back, loving dog you could ask for! Their facilities are clean, and they clearly care a lot about all the critters that reside there. :)

On Thursday October 20th 2022 I found two 1 month old gray kitten's while walking in the park. After checking with homeowners near the park didn't own them. They were groomed, cleaned, collars with colors indicating their genders. I was given Melissa's number. After being told she runs a NO KILL pet shelter. So I dropped them off there. So happy there is a NO KILL pet rescue option in Johnson County Tennessee. After leaving them there for the weekend I realized God put these 2 fur angels 😇😺😇😺 in my life. So the following Monday I picked them up and took them home. Unfortunately baby boy Max 😭 ONLY lived 2 week's longer. Due to a unknown at the time heart condition. But his twin sister Jen is STILL with me as of 6/09/2025.

I have adopted 3 dogs from this rescue now. This is a private funded rescue and while they do not have the resources that larger state ran or for profit shelters have, I am happy to support a rescue that is truly a no-kill shelter and pulls from area shelters when dogs are scheduled to be put down. My little Moonie was pulled on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized and he is the love of my life. Without this organization my 3 dogs would not be alive today.

I had the best volunteer experience here. This place is less than 40 mins drive from Boone, NC and the drive is so scenic! Please consider volunteering, donating, fostering or adopting here, the animals need all the help! I’m in awe of this place and and the work people do here. It is incredible.

We have had the privilege of adopting 2 pups from Melissa, she contacted us about our little Agnus Ann a few months after we lost 2 of our shelties. Rusty was a whole different story 😁. We were to foster him only during the horrible cold spell in December 2021. We shamelessly begged her to let him stay a little longer every week. January 2024 he’s still here 😁. Unlike the earlier review from “Gary Lewis” we know how much Melissa does for the dogs/cats/puppies and kittens no one wants. What would they do without Melissa and her volunteers?
