Raton Animal Shelter

Went out at 8:30 am to look for a small dog to adopt. The staff was very rude and told me to come back at 11:00. I guess they think people don’t have jobs themselves. Not the same place it was several years back when mr Gonzalez was there when I adopted my my baby Maggie. I will now look elsewhere to adopt.

I hope I am leaving this review at the appropriate place. The animal control team was so very kind and helpful in loading up my Cane Corso who had decided he did not want to load up in the U Haul any more. I had been trying for two hours without success and had called for assistance. The police department actually had them call me and they showed up within minutes and working together, got my dog loaded so we could hit the road again. They were empathetic to our situation, kind to me and my dog, and didn't hesitate to come and help us out. Forever grateful to the gentleman and young lady who came!

Positive reviews were made by employees or family and friends to boost the rating even though it is false. All animals held there is at a high risk of kennel cough and etc. when i volunteered there for a short while there a momma dog w her pups in a verey dirty and smelly room. They WILL seize ur pets under false pretenses and adopt them off as fast as they can so you cant get them back before ur court date. Ive called them before to pick up a feral cat that was constantly running into my home n attacking my pets unprompted only to be rudely told to "catch it myself and lock it in the bathroom" so he can come pick it up. Isnt that HIS job? The workers will gaslight you and try to shame you if you cant afford to get ur dog back from them. Ive lost over 4 pets because of this buisness and a

Our very smart collie/ shep dogs have learned how to open the gate latches to the back yard. Our cities Animal Control Officier "Marissa "rescued our four dogs by cornering them and pushing them back to the house. We had all 4 tagged and when she returned with the herd, I was out looking for them. Our city has the best of the very best people working for us. And super point: Marissa is a woman in a man's world, and she is killing it.

This place has got to be the worse animal shelter I have ever seen went to get dog food was told to come back at 1 came BK some person couldn't figure out were anybody was at I don't think she knew where she was at came BK the next day at the time it says in the door and now they lost the key to where they keep the dog food every time I or somebody I know goes by there to get dog food it's a lost cause I mean c'mon how hard is it when Mr. Taft was there never had that problem and what's up with the dog catcher I'll leave it at that no clue having it's just a job need to have people that love animals seriously!
