If you’re a first-time adopter hoping to give a rescue a loving home — don’t bother. Despite being a homeowner, meeting every stated requirement, and offering a stable environment for a dog in need, my application was rejected because I didn’t have a “veterinary reference.” Makes sense, right? Because apparently, the only people worthy of adopting are those who already have pets.The response I got felt like a copy-paste form letter, offering zero willingness to actually work with me or even discuss options. It’s frustrating to think that shelters claim they’re desperate to find homes for these animals, yet put up barriers that turn away caring families ready to adopt.Hopefully, the shelter reconsiders its one-size-fits-all approach one day — or at least updates its website to say “first-ti

My precious babies were adopted from Raining Cats and Dogs. This small humble shelter is the best. Everyone there is there purely for the love of cats and dogs. It is 100 percent volunteer run. The director and adoption coordinator truly care and work hard to ensure each adoption is a match for both the pet and the family.

We adopted our beautiful Izzy from RCAD is 2023. They are an awesome rescue, provided great communication, showed true care and compassion for their animals and have a strong tribe of volunteers that are dedicated and awesome! We frequently attend their fund raising events and continue to support whenever we can. They really get to know their animals and try to find the best fits for them, even if it means waiting for that perfect family. We highly recommend and support RCAD!!!

I can't thank these people enough for the work they do! All these precious little souls are given another opportunity at life because of their hard work and through the love they offer. We adopted an older rescue, Raedon, and he's added joy to life every day. No words can describe our appreciation.
