Providence Animal Shelter

Went to adopt a cat and they said all visitations are by appointment only so I filled out an application in person and online waited a week and no one reached out. I went back to the shelter and the lady at the front desk said I have to wait for director to reach out to me, waited a few more days, then I called the director and her voicemail said she was going to be on vacation for a week, it’s been over a month and still nothing. Would not recommend

I had a great experience working with Providence Animal Shelter to adopt a cat. They responded quickly to any questions I had and let us get to spend time with the cats to pick out the one who connected with us best. After three phonecalls unreturned, giving my phone number in my first of many emails as well as leaving my phone number on their voicemail, and being given the run around for two days in my attempt to so much as make an appointment to see a cat, all communication was stopped when I formally applied to adopt. After 4 days of silence I had to reach out to a secondary email for applicants, and was almost immediately rejected. I don't feel as if anything I said was taken into consideration (the fact that I live in a two story house and dogs live on the bottom floor with 0 access to the above floor) and that said cat could never even see the dogs. Adopted from here more than once, they are clean & the people there are great.

My husband and I did not end up adopting here because we fell in love with a cat at another shelter. However, we had a wonderful experience visiting the cats here. The staff was so friendly and helpful. There are so many amazing cats that need homes I really wish I could take more home. Be sure to check this place out if you want a new family member!
