Customer Reviews
The staff of the Bicycle Cellar in Simsbury, Connecticut and their customers made a donation of items needed for the dogs and kitty cats. The staff was incredibly grateful and warm when we arrived with a van full of donations. I'm so glad our furry friends have you!
When we lost our 17 year old cat in November it was the first time we had been without at least one animal in the house since 1978. We were anxious to adopt another adult cat ASAP. My sister lives near POA and had heard good things. We reviewed the website and saw a cat ("Wesley")who looked like a good fit for us. We filled out the application and were scheduled for an appointment to visit with the option to take Wesley that day. When we arrived we we were immediately informed of 2 minor medical issues and given the option of choosing another cat. We met with "Wesley" and took him home that day. He was on an RX diet so POA gave us all that they had of that food and a discount on his adoption. Overall a very positive experience.
I no longer donate need to this organization. They are rude, believe they are the beginning and end of knowing everything about animals which they don't. I did volunteer years ago. One of the women there who was new, was quite rude, and would not let me speak, or volunteer my expertise. Specifically, she was supposed to build a database but she didn't know anything about computers. I offer to do it she just would not shut up. I believe she is a big part of why this organization is no longer worth my donations. I did adopt my dog who my loved very much. I made a donation in her name never received a thank you, sorry about your loss no response at all.
They might be good with cats but they are terrible with communication. I wanted to adopt an indoor only cat, specifically one that I already knew from when she was a street cat. I became very fond of her and wanted to give her a good home. I have an indoor outdoor cat at home because he gets terribly agitated when not allowed out and will spray on random things in my house out of frustration. So I explained my situation in an email with the response that to start the adoption process I must apply online. I did and they were quick to respond until they called my vet and the vet told them that my current cat goes outdoors. They said they have a strict policy of indoor only. Well duh, I told them outright and they still said to apply. I sent several emails swearing on my life the new cat woul
Long time volunteer & adopter. They put all their animals first & do a background check to make sure adopters will be a good forever home.
