Practical Obedience LLC - Custom Dog Training

When we got our new German Shepherd puppy, we looked for a place where he could get positive exposures to other dogs and were thrilled to find Practical Obedience! Our puppy attended multiple of their Saturday puppy socialization sessions, which helped immensely with his confidence around other dogs. It wasn’t just a free for all with puppies running around doing whatever they want - there was always at least two trainers supervising the play and ensuring all dogs were having a positive, fun experience. They even continued to allow our puppy to come for several sessions after he had aged out. What an incredible training program and trainers for puppies! We initially enrolled our new puppy in a local training class that taught basic obedience, which was fine—but it wasn’t enough. We really wanted our puppy to be socialized, learn how to play well with other dogs (of all sizes), and be welcoming to new environments. Switching to Practical Obedience was the single best decision we made for his early development. Twice a week, our puppy goes to Practical Obedience daycare & training, where he plays, learns, and develops with a great team of trainers. He comes home exhausted, and we work on reinforcing what they taught him. It’s a total win-win! We started looking into trainers when one of our dogs began becoming reactive towards other dogs by barking and lunging. Kailey and the Practical Obedience team did a fantastic job both addressing the issue behavior and also including us in the training sessions. Being actively involved in the training process and learning how to apply it is something we really wanted and Practical Obedience nailed it with their structure. Our dog has made huge strides and we feel a lot more confident in how to continue building on those improvements. I was referred to Maggie Hansen (owner) for my husky's extreme fear of nail trimming. The person that referred me, is actually a certified dog trainer herself with 3 husky dogs. She was not able to master the art of the nail trim either. I took this as a STRONG referral! We both tried every method possible to have our dog's nails trimmed, but were unsuccessful until we met Maggie. Her demeanor is so gentle and my dog immediately felt comfortable with her. She is highly certified, professional, and her experience immediately impressed me. Maggie has helped me with other behavior issues as well. We have had a super experience with the training for our Bernese mountain dog puppy and now continuing with teenage school. Our "Crazy Maizie" has learned so much! The coaching for us has also been a huge part of the success we have experienced. Very understanding of canine behavior, how to train, and how to show owners how to continue the work they start. We know we can always reach out in the future and get help with any issues that arise! Super place!
