My dog stayed there at the petsmart hotel for 11 days. I felt his body and he felt much thinner than when I brought him there. As soon as I got home with my dog he started licking his dish like he hadn't ate for days. I immediately fed him. Also, when i had put on his harness leash that goes around his body it was too big. I was told through text from the pet hotel staff that he was eating and doing well. I definitely feel he loss around 5 to 8 pounds while being there and I was just told he was eating well. I'm not taking him there again for boarding. Too bad our animals can't talk. As far as his bath there...they did a fantastic job! He has stayed the same length of time before at the Torrance office for dog boarding and didn't feel thin.
After taking our dog there for about two years, we have decided to stop going due to a loss of trust in how they handle our pet. They mistakenly placed their red leash around his neck instead of his chest, as they usually do. When my dog saw us through the window, he naturally pulled, and because the leash was just a loop, it caused him to have trouble breathing and start wheezing. To make matters worse, when I pointed it out, the employee claimed it must have been his collar, showing a lack of accountability, and then stated that it was not their intention to hurt our dog. I then asked the other employee for the name of the person who put the leash around my dog’s neck so I could file a formal complaint, she informed me that it is company policy not to provide employee names. FYI to all dog and cat parents who use this Petshotel - Long Beach for overnight stays. I just found out they have change their policy regarding overnight staff. Our beloved animals have no overnight staff watching them anymore. Any recommendations for another pet hotel with overnight staffing.
The hotel staff appear to genuinely care for the residents. They are patient, engaging and responsive to your pets needs. The hotel is sanitized and they adhere to Covid protocols. One a the great perks is that the pets get to attend "Doggy Daycare" ( If neutered/spayed and are fully vaccinated). The hotel also provides premium food, or you can bring your own. Additionally, there is an animal hospital in conjunction with the hotel. The Petsmart Hotel is my go to when traveling and my baby can't accompany me!
The price seems to go up $5-$10 every time we use it. $79 for barely 24 hours or care with no treats or grooming is insane. Will be our last visit.
