Petland Iowa City

Wow. Life changing. We visited the Iowa City Petland in December 2025. The employees were all friendly and helpful. We met two managers over two separate visits, and they were both friendly and patiently answered all of our questions. The puppies are cute. We spent time with three different puppies. What was really the most impactful part of our visit is how well adjusted each of the puppies were in their personalities and behavior. Very unexpected. Their cheerfulness and friendly demanor is probably due to the nice employees having positive interactions, as well as the wide variety of customers coming to visit them: old, young, rural, urban, etc. The store had a steady flow of customers who appeared to be seasoned pet owners as well as famlies with children. We always love going to Petland and playing with the puppies. We are hoping to find one soon but enjoy checking out the options. The staff is really nice and helpful with any questions we’ve had.

I Really love petland, great atmosphere! Friendly and loving. I do however not enjoy not having up front pricing on their puppies. You have to apply for the puppy before being told the prices. And holy smokes $$$$

NEVER BUY ANIMALS FROM PETLAND!! I got attached to a 5000 dollar puppy and was going to make payments on the dog. I called ahead, informing them of concerns with another animal of mine, and asked about a trial period. All they stated was that they had a 48-hour trial period. The next day, I went in with my concerns, and during the adoption, the terms were read out loud, but I could not read them myself. One portion did leave me confused; they worded it as "a full refund of store credit." Since I'm in payments, I specifically asked if I would be credited the full price of the puppy or if it would only be the $100 down payment. I was specifically told, "You will be credited the down payment, and all other payments will stop". The puppy ended up not working out, and when I brought the puppy b

I drove three hours to get my coco. Oh my coco, the love of my life. I had the best three years ever with her. Coco passed away two days ago July 31st at the age of 3 1/2 from Megaesophagus. She was my best friend, my soul dog. I would have rather known coco for a short time then to never know her at all. I question how my coco got this terrible disease and of course I will question where she came from and how she was bred. I was warned of pet lands and no wonder most are closed down. Coco deserved to live a long happy life. I will do everything I can to raise awareness on coco and this disease. I can’t for sure say it was the way she was bred but the doctors did say it was most likely genetics. My baby deserved a long happy life. Save yourself the heart ache if you can and adopt an anima
