I recently visited the cemetery property to pick up remains after a private cremation, and while the individual who ultimately assisted with the handoff was professional and respectful, the experience leading up to that moment was upsetting - due entirely to the behavior of David Bielski, the owner of both Fern Hill and Petland Cemeteries. I first encountered David in the Fern Hill office when I asked for help locating the correct building. He was sitting with another man and had a barking animal in his lap. The atmosphere was chaotic and unwelcoming - especially for someone arriving in a vulnerable state. I came all the way from Seattle with my two ferrets. Having limited income, I simply couldn't afford to have both pets done in the Seattle area. The price was remarkably reasonable and I was able to work it into my budget easily...I was not expecting the levels of professionalism and kindness I received when I dropped my babies off. When I started to cry, i received a tissue and a hug and we thoroughly worked through EVERY detail until everything was arranged how I wanted it to be. Further, the turn around time was days as opposed to weeks! I would rate this place higher, if I could.

Received my beautiful, beloved dog back in a plain, wooden box with no name plaque upon it. The only identifying feature was a paper sticker on the bottom. The thing that infuriated me the most was the envelope which I had naively assumed was a message of condolence or maybe a paw print. Nope! It was filled with advertisements! I wouldn't buy your useless tat for anything! How DARE you take advantage of the high emotions of mourning pet owners! Disgusting sales tactic! If this company is so shallow as to include ads with the return of remains, it makes me wonder how ethical their crematory practice is as a whole. Because of this, not only will I never use this company's services again, I'm never going back to the vet clinic that sent my poor dog there in the first place!
