Petco

We brought our son in for his birthday to choose a fish. He’s been waiting for one for months. The manager refused to sell us anything, walked away, and completely refused to help us. My ten year old was in tears. The outing was completely ruined. Apparently you have to show them a picture of your setup before they will sell you a fish? That wasn’t posted anywhere and I’m pretty sure the lady looked at the family with four kids and decided we weren’t good enough for her. Needless to say we will never be back - and now I’m left trying to salvage a birthday that ended in tears. I literally can’t say enough awful things about this place and that employee. I’ve never been treated like this, it was humiliating. Shame on petco, nobody should treat anyone this way, much less a ten year old child

I’m 18 and went into Petco to buy a hamster as a birthday gift for my brother. I was fully prepared with my ID and told the employees I already had a cage set up at home. Because I didn’t have pictures of the cage on my phone, they refused to sell me the hamster. When I politely asked to see the actual policy, they refused. When I asked to speak to a manager, they declined again and then walked away from me mid-conversation. I tried to calmly reason with them, but they kept ignoring me and repeatedly claimed they were the managers—yet no real manager ever came out. The employees’ names were Clyde and Jordan, and their behavior was extremely unprofessional, dismissive, and disrespectful. The associates are always very friendly, but lately they have had no crickets each time I have come in. Would appreciate a larger inventory that doesn’t run out every time I come in for a few crickets.

Took my 85 lb goldendoodle to be groomed, we had a medical issue and couldn't take him to his regular groomer in SLC. He needed a groom badly . I explained and gave pictures of how I wanted his fur to look, But when I picked him up I found alot of uneven parts to the body, they butchered his ears with blunt layers , his paws looked awful long hairs around nails, cut a couple nails to short they where bleeding. His sanitary area was uneven. He has a fauxhawk and they messed that up took to much off one side and left it floppy and loose instead of trimming so it can stick up. Long hairs around the mouth. NEVER. AGAIN! will I take him for a groom here. I would rather do it myself even not being trained. I had to fix a bunch at home anyway.

I have had various great and not so great experiences with Petco in Spsnish Fork. This last time on May 22 2025 was wildly difficult and strange. The grooming manager groomed my Cavalier and did a beautiful job. However when she was picked up by my husband, we were told that we would not be allowed to bring her back to this Petco again. When asked why, the manager said that we were never happy and we had too many complaints about the grooming. Records indicate there were two complaints in a year. Petco grooming has been utilized by my family in three different states with two different Cavalier dogs. Never have we been asked to go somewhere else.
