I know this review is long, but please read it in its entirety before you decide to bring animals here. Something needs to change. The staff is incredibly unfriendly and defensive as well as dishonest. This shelter should be an absolute last resort for anyone looking to rehome or help reconnect strays with their owners. My sister recently brought in three, perfectly healthy, orange kittens that were about 10 weeks old. They were eating regular food, so they did not need to be bottle fed. She made it extremely clear to staff that if anything should happen that made them consider euthanasia, to call her and she would come pick them up. She even offered to foster them. Staff reassured her that they would be adopted in no time and that if anything were to happen they would call her. After ca

If you are considering bringing an animal to PCAPS-whether it's a stray, a surrender, or a rehome--PLEASE DON'T! This facility has a long and deeply concerning history of killing perfectly healthy, young, and adoptable animals. I have witnessed this firsthand, and I don't want anyone else to be misled by the reassuring but inaccurate information often provided by staff. They may tell you they have space, resources and every intention of giving the animal a safe environment, creating a false sense of security. They may even encourage you to leave your contact information and assure you that they will notify you of any status changes. But too often, while you are calling for updates and trusting their word, the animal you brought in is being euthanized without your knowledge. People dis

It's hard to know how to review a place like this. I feel as if they're probably doing the best they can with the available resources BUT the kennel cages are very small and many of the animals appear to be distressed. I would expect no less from animals who have been "surrendered" or "confiscated". It''s heartbreaking. Every animal had food and water and I saw numerous volunteers taking dogs out for walks. This is good. As a self-professed animal enthusiast (x10) I would encourage anyone to adopt their next pet from this shelter. The conditions at the shelter do not reflect the caliber of pets available for adoption. Amazing, loving cats and kittens. Sweet and obedient dogs and puppies. These are wonderful animals and I wish I could take every one of them home with me.

Complet BS. I paid the address change fee for the pitbull that was chipped by previous owners to have my information replacing theirs because they gave said dog to me. He got loose and was picked up for running at large. They called and said they had my dog and I need to come get him for a couple hundred $$ that they have had him for over a week (after missing for 2 weeks). Proceeded to tell me I have 2 days or they are putting him down.

They killed my 6 month old puppy. They said after they did an assessment that he was scared and tried to bite the staff. He was only a puppy. I gave them my number and told them to call me after assessment if he failed they would put him down. I didn't want that and would be happy to take him back. They lied. No call. I just found out today. My heart is breaking. When I surrender him I thought they would find him a good home. Had I known then what I know now he would have had a chance. Our landlord didn't want us to have 2 dogs here so we thought we were doing a good thing. If only they would have called me. Can't stop crying.
