Melanie made such a tremendous difference in our lives with our menace of a puppy, Wallace. She taught us the power of play, trust, and a concrete structure to build our relationship up and create our dream dog. He is so sweet, playful, curious, and now fully appreciates sunny naps all day long. Where other trainers feared Wallace's reactive tendencies, she believed in him and built him up. Peak K-9 has helped me and my pup in so many ways! My Addi girl was terrified of every noise, but what scared her the most was being outside. Every time she would step paw outside she would be down to the ground with her nails digging into the ground doing anything to get back inside immediately. Getting her to go to the bathroom was the biggest struggle. I had to drive her to a park multiple times a day where she would circle my car endlessly wanting to go back inside and for a quick moment when it got silent around, she would quickly go the bathroom and then panic down to the ground to get back in the car as soon as possible. Melanie is such an incredible person! We reached out to her prior to bringing home a new rescue puppy. Our 9 year old dog, Grace, is very dog selective, so we were quite nervous. She worked with us on both dogs, including Grace before our new guy, Gus, joined our family. Then she did training for both dogs at the same time, to help them get used to one another and co-exist. She made every training session very meaningful and impactful for both dogs, and left us with tons of helpful information and tools to succeed. Our story is a long emotional one, but I think it's impactful and important to share, so bear with me as I get it out! I'd had my (very reactive) girl for three years and three states when I made the excruciating decision to surrender her. I was a graduate student (something I hadn't planned when I originally rescued her) and my schedule was beyond demanding, my finances were nonexistent, and I didn't know how to help her beyond everything I had already tried. Melanie is AMAZING! Our Boston Terrier, Piper, was born deaf. I have never owned a deaf dog and had no idea what to do. Melanie came to my rescue, and Piper just adored her. We learned hand signals for commands, and with practice, she quickly grasped them. It has been a while since we last had a training session, so we need to refresh some of her skills.
