Today I decided to swing by the ouachita parish animal shelter as I am new to town. The staff was super nice, the dog area was nice and clean, what a treat! As I left I found myself wanting to volunteer so I asked about that, two minutes later I was signed up! This place rocks!!! Thanks again everyone for all the time you spend taking care of the animals..

First off all you complainers, get off your butt and volunteer here. Donate blankets and toys, raise money for them. The majority of the people who work here are volunteers. I have adopted twice from this shelter and ended up with 2 of the most amazing dogs. They dont answer my phone calls.... wahh wahh... they are busy working with the dogs and cats. They aren't open when im free from work.... we'll if you really want to adopt take off when they are open. I did both times. They charged me when I came to retrieve my pet that I let get loose..... yeah services ain't free, take better care to keep your pets where they belong. They won't let me adopt the one I want when I want it.... well it might have a bite record.... it might be quarantined for a reason. Stop being am entitled whiner and g

All you guys do is complain!!! I don’t work there or volunteer but I bring blankets and dogs treats on a regular basis. The workers are constantly cleaning pens, feeding or doing something productive!! If you really want to help get off your butts and help these poor animals out, they didn’t ask to be there! There are many friendly and lovable dogs there! If you really care and want to home one make some time!!!! Or just bring cookies, they will love you for it!!

My FurGrandDog had to be quarantined for 10 days. She "WAS" healthy and her temperature was very loving and easy with my grandchild as well as my 10lb dachshund. She came home SICK. Wasn't sure but I felt it was kennel cough. She was extremely sick though 🤧 Her Mom and Dad was getting married and there was no time to bring her in, so morning after wedding with Honeymoon canceled she was taken to the Vet. She has kennel cough as well as PNEUMONIA!! She did NOT go there sickly or with a cough. She came home EXTREMELY SICK. They gave her shots. Her disposition has changed. Maybe it's due to her feeling very very bad, or it's the fever, but I think someone harmed her while she was there. We do know she was healthy, playful and a happy 1yr old. We pray we get our Roxie back once she gets w

While I was extremely happy with being able to adopt a puppy from here and they microchipped her, I didn’t have best experience with the volunteers/staff. Closed when we arrived at 10:30 (weather was a little rough though) we called let them know what dog we were looking at wanting to adopt. When they were asking their questions, they asked if I had any other pets, I said yes we have another dog. We were told we have to bring our dog to meet the puppy to make sure they got along, that is no problem I understand, but it was nowhere on their site or Facebook. We had to wait to see if they could make the exception since I drove three hours. Again if I knew I would’ve brought my other dog in! They did make the exception but told us if we choose to adopt from there again we know the rules. Agai
