Ocooch Mountain Humane Society

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience adopting from Ocooch Mountain Humane Society, and I truly cannot recommend them enough. We adopted our sweet girl Mare, who now goes by Mika, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Cat, the manager, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and it was immediately clear how deeply she loves and cares for every single animal. She knew them all by name, which spoke volumes. Cat provided excellent, detailed paperwork and guidance on how to introduce Mika into her new home. As well as how to properly and gently introduce her to our other cat, Mau. The shelter itself was very clean, well-maintained, and calm. What really stood out to us was how happy and relaxed the cats looked. They are clearly well socialized and loved & not stuck

Truly one of the most well-run, clean, beautiful shelters I’ve ever seen. The cats are so happy and loved, the shelter manager knows every one of their stories, ages, names, and personalities off the top of her head. Such a gem of an organization that the community is lucky to have!

I was looking for a companion for my highly sensitive 6 year old cat. This was the perfect place to look! So many cats, in a cage free environment. And, Cat, the manager, was very patient with us as we visited with each and every cat. It was a hard decision, but we finally chose a kitten named Werner (now Dewey.) I am happy to report that, about 2 years later, he is still the happiest, friendliest cat I have known, and the ideal companion for my older cat. No shelter can compare to Ocooch…so many great cats to choose from, and a wonderful manager and volunteers who socialize and care for every animal in a way that makes them ideal pets.

I adopted a nine month old cat from the shelter in 2022. I could not be more impressed with the facility and the staff not to mention my adorable cat, Lois. The facility is like no other I’ve ever seen. The cats are socialized and not caged. It’s obvious how well cared for they are. I’m truly appreciative that I found and adopted through the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society. I highly recommend others do the same!

I’ve had quite a few cat adoption experiences throughout my life and adopting through Ocooch Mountain HS is definitely one of the best! It’s so obvious how much this shelter cares for their kitties and they were very thorough and thoughtful in communication to ensure a good match. Our little girl was very shy at first (which is something we knew we were signing up for) and over time blossomed into the sweetest, snuggliest little girl! I can’t say enough good things about this shelter.
