Dr. Bohrer was great. She showed great kindness for Murphy. She has a very pleasant demeanor toward pets and spent enough time to explain all the next steps Murphy needs. Would recommend.

I took my cats to "N. Portland Animal Clinic" for years. then it moved to Lombard and became a hospital. Soon they sold out and became an HMO. Their prices are outrageous, and, yes, they are only interested in how much you can pay. I would never take another animal there again. When veterinary clinics/hospitals are charging as much as human clinics/hospitals, it is time to reevaluate our pathetic, greedy, animal care practitioners. I know all the new equipment etc, is expensive, but you would think they would be able to give some people a break or help them somehow. What happened to the vets that work for the love of animals?

It's okay. They do look to charge for everything they can which is annoying. Also I took my dog in in late September, they said he was fine, then I noticed he looked a bit thin about a month later. By Thanksgiving I was asking people if they thought he looked different, they said he looked ok. I thought maybe I need to take him in. Soon after we went into another vet because VCA hadn't anything available and the other vet said he was very sick and we had to go to the ER. He apparently had liver failure! VCA totally missed this! Not so happy about that..

I don’t recommend this practice. Their main criteria seems to be “ how much do you want to pay?” I took my cat for an evaluation of a puncture wound sustained in a fight. I had sent a picture of the wound to my regular vet but they couldn’t see her for a few days and recommended an urgent care clinic, as puncture wounds in a cat can often become infected, leading to abscess or worse. Cat was eating, drinking, eliminating and behaving normally. N Portland Vet offered a “ complete work- up” for $1200 to “be sure the puncture wound hadn’t punctured the lungs”. Or a course of antibiotics for about $200. Guess what? If you are a qualified vet you should be able to evaluate if the lungs have sustained puncture wound from the signs and symptoms. I opted for antibiotics and had to talk t

The vet I've had (n others I know) for over 20 yrs recently retired. She's the best! Finding it difficult to find a vet there I like. Way too costly there! And push treatments. Might look to go for vet elsewhere n closer to my home.
