Adopting from Nana and Papa’s Nest was nothing short of life-changing. From the very beginning, it was clear that this rescue isn’t just about finding homes for parrots — it’s about honoring their spirits and making sure every bird ends up exactly where they belong. The process never felt like “jumping through hoops.” Instead, it felt like being cared for and guided by people who truly put the birds first. Melissa and Jodie are phenomenal. They are the heart of this rescue — compassionate, wise, and so deeply dedicated to every single bird in their care. They don’t just match people with parrots, they nurture real bonds. They gave Arcee, my African Grey, the freedom to choose me, and that moment when he stepped onto my shoulder and refused to leave changed my life forever. Because of Mel
📣 A Message From Nana & Papa’s Nest At Nana & Papa’s Nest, we rarely address negativity publicly—we focus on the parrots and the people who love them. However, when false information and bullying tactics appear online, we feel it’s important to set the record straight. 🔹 Appointments Only Every person who visits our rescue does so by appointment. Most appointments naturally lead to a follow-up visit with a bird who shows interest in the family. Not every parrot in our care is available for adoption, and those decisions are made only by our Licensed Avian Veterinarian, based on each bird’s health and needs. 🔹 Clean, Safe, and Never Overcrowded We receive constant compliments on how clean and well-maintained our Nest is. It’s a major daily task, but one we take great pride in. Our facilit
In regards to JoJo… I read the long lengthy post from the person who adopted this wonderful bird. I feel some things were probably left out of that review. If she was so happy and wonderful in the home, why did she get sick, develop bumble, foot, and begin plucking and return to the rescue as a changed bird? Those things are not indicative of a well cared for and happy bird. This rescue has been nothing but wonderful and educational. I’ve spent a lot of time at this rescue and with a lot of the personnel who spend their time ensuring these birds are happy and healthy. I feel that the original adopter is trying to put the blame back on the rescue because they took the bird back. That is well within their rights, as the bird was not thriving with that family. That is why there is a foste
don’t usually write reviews like this, but I feel obligated to share our experience for families considering adoption. From the very beginning, the process felt structured and professional. The required classes and visitation schedule made me feel confident that this rescue truly cared about placing birds in educated and committed homes. My children and I drove two hours each way twice a week to visit. We attended both required classes. We bonded deeply with an Amazon parrot — unexpectedly, but wholeheartedly. When we brought our bird home on January 23rd under their foster-to-adopt program, we were overjoyed. I work from home, so I was with her all day, every day. I followed every instruction provided. I weighed her daily using the exact scale they recommended. When I was told the air
Adopted two wonderful birds from here! They have classes for nutrition and parrot care that will help you get ready for your new pet. The way they have you visit your bird multiple times before adopting really helps you pick the right fit for your family and gives you time to get the cage and supplies. So happy with both of our boys and would definitely come here again if we decide to get one more! Amazing place, wonderful volunteer staff, can't say enough about the positive experience!
