Montclair Township Animal Shelter

On August 1st, 2025 a customer came into our shop that said a kitten was stuck in her car, it had jumped up into the engine compartment. We had the customer leave her vehicle and 5 1/2 hours later, we rescued the kitten out of the rear end of the vehicle. She was scared, hungry, dirty, and covered in fleas. We immediately called Montclair Animal Shelter and J came over to pick up this pretty calico. All night I kept thinking about her and my previously deceased calico cat, Cate. It was a sign, my Cate sent me this kitten to fill my heart with joy again. I went to Montclair Animal Shelter to check up on her the next day. I'm thrilled to share that I recently visited the Montclair shelter in November through my company's volunteer program. Growing up with a dog, I always knew I'd adopt one someday. That's when I met Ace (formerly Frim), and I instantly knew he was the perfect companion for me, including as my emotional support dog. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Liz, who guided me through the adoption process with kindness and expertise. I'd also like to thank all the dedicated volunteers at the shelter for their tireless efforts in caring for animals like Ace. Thank you again for bringing Ace and me together!

Absolutely loved my experience here! 🐱💖 They helped me so much with my cat’s spay/neuter application, educated me every step of the way 📝, and even installed a microchip! 💉 Everything went smoothly — the surgery was quick, my cat came back healthy and happy 🐾😊. Post-surgery meds were included in one-time fee at the beginning💊💰. The staff is incredibly kind and caring — truly amazing people. Highly recommended! 🌟🙌❤️

We lost our sweet girl at 15 years old when we had to make the difficult decision to put her down in January 2024. We gave ourselves 3 months to grieve but set out to find our next furever pup in March. This time around was a bit different as we now had a six year old child with us and he obviously wanted a puppy. We visited Montclair Animal Shelter a few times to check out the animals - I have to say - the first thing that stood out was the areas in which the dogs were kept. They had ample room and space and were able to spend time outdoors in the sun whenever they wanted. Liz immediately greeted us and while I did read a review that said this establishment is racist - We as a black couple did not experience any such thing. My Husband and I , recently adopted a Cat and the experience was so amazing. Everyone from the moment we walked into the shelter to the moment we took our new baby home was so nice with us. We went looking for a cat to adopt on sunday and was recommended Taylor swift by a volunteer, very sweet young lady, we were able to enjoy our stay in the main adoption room and was able to have our 3 year old son get acquainted with the cats as well without feeling rushed at all. The application process was smooth in my experience. They asked a lot of thoughtful and thorough questions about our life style and habits.
