You walk in and feel like family! Ashley is usually doing 10 things at once behind the desk but she's always professional and manages to stop to get pictures for every animal that gets a forever home. They really care about the animals here. They go above and beyond in all ways possible. Cages are always clean and the animals are well fed. They keep toys in the cages to help the animals with enrichment. They rotate the cats into a bigger cage in the lobby. Every time I'm there someone is walking the dogs and there's usually a lobby pup somewhere behind the desk. Excellent foster program as well run by Cathy! They've opened a low cost vet clinic too! Wow, this facility and the staff are superb! When I found a sweet stray puppy and couldn’t take him home, they stepped up and took him despite being full. I am so incredibly grateful to Ashley and the rest of the staff for their help!

We adopted our sweet Maggie (formerly known as Cookie) through Monroe County Friends of Animals, and I’m truly grateful we found her there. Shauna Gavin fostered her and is also a dedicated volunteer with the organization. Maggie had never really been handled before Shauna captured her. She was a scared little puppy who didn’t know what to expect from people. The patience and time Shauna put into helping her feel safe is something I will always appreciate. This isn’t surface-level volunteering. Shauna clearly pours a huge amount of time and energy into these animals. This shelter is wonderful. Ashley helped me so much in adopting my furbabies! They were very young and we had to wait until they gained enough weight to go home. Ashley was ethical, patient and very professional in the adoption of these precious kittens. I put my trust in her and she was wonderful all along the way! ♡ They work hard and take great care of these needy animals each day. Volunteer if you want to help these shelter animals ♡♡♡

Monroe County Animal Shelter does an amazing job.They really care about the animals and go above and beyond to serve the needs of Monroe County. I highly recommend supporting this great shelter. Not everyone can adopt, but please consider donating. Either financiall aid,donating pet supplies, donating to the thrift store or volunteering. And PLEASE spay and neuter your pets! Animals are our best friends and should be treated as part of our family❤️
